If you think the first 90% of the race didn't matter, then to be honest, you have never understood NASCAR or any auto-racing in the first place... I'll bet Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson would disagree with you, seeing as how they got wrecked in the first 15% of the race. I'll bet RCR would disagree with you, seeing as how most of their engines couldn't last the entire race.

It's like saying the first 3 quarters of a football game don't matter. The first 90% of a race determines who is even capable of winning in the last 10% of the race.

Only from the stand-point of attrition. And that's it. The guy who started dead last had a legitimate chance to win the race after lap 20 of 200. That's more or less bullshit.
