I don't know what it is about Dawn of the Dead - and I hate to be repetitive here - but I can watch that movie over, and over, and over, and it never gets old for me.

Pacing maybe? Subtle homages to the original? Casting? Source material?

Probably pacing though.

Here's what I've read:

that's a girl, appears to be Ursa (General Zod's right-hand-lady)


The cape will have a lot of CGI done in post-production, and, with that being red, the decision was made to make Cavill's costume all blue. This way, they can add red undies, and even a yellow belt, to the costume in post as well, without having clipping issues with the cape.

That said, it's still up in the air whether or not they'll add the undies/belt - but they have reserved that option through CGI.


We'll see.

I love Henry Cavill. I think he's a great actor who can pull off both a battle-style emotion and the general cheesiness that always comes with Superman.

I am digging the suit so far. No real issue with me. I am pretty certain they will add some Red somewhere digitally and touch it up in post production. To see them daring to modernize the suit some makes me feel more confident.

i don't know, i consider it a reboot when you replace/are forced to replace the entire cast

wouldnt you consider each time they change james bond a reboot even though its supposed to technically tell about his exploits, just not necessarily in correct chronological order

Casino Royale is the only Bond reboot I can think of. Tough example though, since they're so damn many of them you could call it case-of-the-week serial.

I think it's hard to argue with the following definition: a re-establishment of the mythos intended to supersede what has already been established as canon.

Bond movies rarely do that (that I know of). We are expected to know who he is going into each film (except Casino Royale).

The new Spiderman movie will re-establish his origins. Not re-visit, mind you - but re-establish. It's a reboot.

Superman Returns did build on what the Reeve movies laid down before - just very mildly, because, well, there's not for Superman to carry movie-to-movie other than his own history.

James Bond is just a code name for the person who assumes the 007 spot. It's actually different people in different decades the entire time.

I was under the impression Superman Returns was an offshoot of the Reeves movies, but purposely didn't fit in anywhere in an established chronological order.

I.E. In the later Reeves movies Clark and Lois get married...I think she figures out Kent is Superman, etc...but that stuff clearly hadn't happened yet in the Superman Returns movie.

I think I'm just stating the obvious here and maybe I misread, but I haven't seen anyone state that Superman Returns was specifically a followup to just the first Superman.

At no point in the Reeves movies do Clark and Lois get married. In Superman II she figures out he is Superman and they fool around a bit, but he erases her memory at the end.

It's ok...in Short...Superman Return was continuation. The title alone would assume this correct? For him to return, he had to been around before!? That was my take...clearly seemed like a continuation, and not a reboot. They left the main story lines completely in play, even from Lex's being absent.


007....not a reboot. And I also was under the assumption, 007 was a codename for different agents throughout the time period. My question would be was Penny in most of the films? I can't remember...but this is Sup thread.

The only way Casino Royale cannot be considered a reboot is if it is a prequel. At the beginning the guy is talking to Bond about how he has to have two confirmed kills to be promoted to Double Agent status. I guess Casino Royale was actually the first James Bond book that Ian Fleming wrote though so technically it could be considered a prequel.

was very disappointed with the trailer before Batman- the trailer itself reminded me a lot of the Tree of Life trailer, and made the movie seem not at all what i was expecting, but thats not what made me not like it, i was just hoping he would throw us a bone and give us a little more Superman action.

I think a lot of people were expecting the trailer shown at comic-con. That trailer was twice as long and featured zod, lois lane, jor-el, etc...
