hope they stay consistent with the time period and the weaponry/ships/etc....

also...the purpose of magneto's helmet is to keep x out right? so why doesn't everyone wear it

i think his helmet is based on the technology of cerebro, and since only magneto and xavier built it, only he would know how to design a helmet to combat it

well shit i don't know, it's just part of his costume. if everyone had it then xavier would be useless, kinda like if everyone had a kryptonite ring

"so how old is mystique supposed to be? based on the preview it's supposed to be the same universe just earlier, so how does that work. does she have anti-aging also? or in the recent movies is she really an old hag and just makes herself look smokin?"

I thought she did have some kind of anti-aging thing going on. She is fairly older.

You mean the first four X-Men movies? I could understand you saying X-Men 3 and the Wolverine movie were wretched but the first two were great movies. X-Men 2 is one of the best comic book movies ever made in my opinion.

in that same vein, how would yall rank the comic book movies thus far? there is a pretty good number of them to go with, although i really think it should be separated into dc and marvel rather than all one lump.

for dc: dark knight>batman begins>>>>superman returns

marvel: iron man>iron man 2=x-men 2=thor>spider-man2>x-men>punisher>spider-man>the incredible hulk>>>x-men 3>fantastic 4>>>fantastic 4 silver surfer>>>hulk>>>>>>spider-man 3>>>daredevil>>>>elektra?>>>>>>>ghost rider

i never saw wolverine so i can't speak to it, although i heard it was middle tier at best. that's all i can recall at the moment after several beers and vodka tonics

this movie is either going to be way too long or have no plot at all

why do you say that? x-men 2 showed you can have a lot of different characters with various powers/backgrounds and still have a reasonable length with good plot

the link above has clips of only 3 of the characters

They're short clips, but show some pretty important parts for those characters as their powers are introduced.

There's a backstory to each of these characters, a development/training period, and then the final mission of the movie. There's got to be more characters they have to do this with. Then there's Xavier and Magneto, their backstory, the establishment of the school, the struggle/developing of the main movie plot, and the final mission, and probably the reasons why they go their separate ways.

Either way, it's going to be loaded. I just hope its a good balance of character intro/development that mixes well with the plot, as opposed to a lot of intros/development and then "hey lets go save the world now!"

Clearly. I dont think those are even in the same discussion.

But I would say Iron man ranks up there with Spiderman and Spiderman 2. Iron man 2 is down around Thor level.

Too bad, he (like the film) was great . I know I'm in the minority, but the Spiderman movies were way to cheesy to be given iconic status.

I don't see why Blade wouldn't be a comic book movie.

Don't forget Dolph Lundgren as The Punisher from the early 90's.

I thought it was awesome, but I could find a ton more flaws with it than The Dark Knight and while I appreciate your opinion, that is a damn ballsy statement!

no, but seriously. First Class was awesome and it is deserving of all the great reviews it is getting. At first I was a bit upset that they opted out of making the Magneto Origins story to make this movie, but having seen it, I realize you are basically getting the best of both worlds here. Magneto feels like THE main character in this film.

It may be a ballsy statement but that's why I said I liked it more rather than saying it was outright better. I really enjoyed a few throwbacks too like Rebecca Romijn playing older Mystique, Storm popping up for a second when Professor X first put on Cerebro, and of course Wolverine making a quick cameo. I was also pleased to see Magneto in red and purple at the end.

There are two kinds of people: those whose hearts fluttered at the words, "Go get 'em, tiger," and those whose eyes rolled.

I'm one of the former, but I understand the other perspective.
