When doing report writing for work, multiple people always end up contributing and some double space and others (me) single space. In my opinion, the single spacing looks poor an disrupts the flow when reading. *shrug* I guess to each their own.

Two spaces following an adverb or inside pluperfect subjunctive strings. One everywhere else.

I think the real question is should we put a comma before "and" when listing something?

for example:
job skills, social entrepreneurship and youth philanthropy.

or

job skills, social entrepreneurship, and youth philanthropy.

I was taught to put the comma but I never see that anymore...

I just put commas everywhere and hope for the best.

I put 2 spaces if the paper has a length requirement.

I still put two many places when I type just based on habit from what I was taught as a kid. Technically it should be one almost everywhere though if you really get into the details and the history of it.

^^^^ In general, print media won't use serial commas because leaving them out saves space. Same with the extra spaces between sentences.

I learned two, and the auto-corrects that cockblock my second space while I'm typing make me feel funny. Two taps, one cursor movement. I don't recall the two spaces after a colon though.

Patriots use 2 spaces.

Only communists use 1 space.

I also put 2 spaces after a period when I'm writing by hand.

I was taught to use 2 and would probably have a hard time breaking that habit after so many years of typing. Also 2 after colon, 1 after everything else.

I used to use serial commas but now it seems unnecessary. Overuse of commas makes the writer look like a noob.

That's an oxford comma. I, too, use it.
