Word, that's how I roll on ancestry.com as well. It is taking me a helluva long time to get the tree filled up. Currently I'm only as far back at 1785 (documented) in VA.

direct lineage to john wilkes booth on my grandmother's side (however my great uncle refused to clain him)...we've also traced this side back to a 13th century duke/lord...i need to get the papers from my mom but we go waaaay back.

related to Martha Blackburn Washington on my mom's side (President George Washington's wife, durr)

my dad's side, got nothing. We know it goes back to Berry, France, though.

most likely Stanislaw Leszczynski king of Poland near the turn of the 18th cent. More well known is his daughter Maria who married Louis XV of france.

I think that my mother has traced most stuff back to the 17th cent.

I was born with a full tree from 1730 onwards. earlier than that you'll only locate someone if they were famous for the most part.


Also there's money in ancestry.com if you find someone famous and keep looking....

In that case, Smath74, you and I are probably very, very distantly related. Jefferson Davis's wife, Varina Howell Davis, was one of my father's ancestors.
