okay i'll accept an argument about recruiting, but i will not accept that anyone on staff needs to be keep b/c of their coaching.

i don't know if you've noticed, but our teams have been severely undercoached w/ the current staff.

You know face, you're right. Harris has been vital to our vast success during his tenure. He's most definitely not coming back, fwiw.

Jules needs to be on this bench somewhere. He would be an incredible motivator and asset to the program (hell he already is).

but if he were on the bench, he couldn't run our summer practices.

I'm guessing we already have at least 1-2 assistants lined up, but they will all be announced at once. We obviously need to reach agreement on contract terms with them as well.

Actually by not breaking the bank on the coaching hire, hopefully we can throw some good money at the Assistants, which is what it sounds like DY is planning anyway

Quote :
"Early began his coaching career at his alma mater, Gardner-Webb, from 1993-95. He followed with a three-year stint at Western Carolina, one as an assistant coach, during which the Catamounts captured the Southern Conference Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament, and his final two seasons as the associate head coach. Early followed his term at WCU by continuing to climb the coaching ladder, spending three seasons (1998-01) as an assistant at Charlotte under head coach Bobby Lutz. He helped the 49ers to a pair of Conference USA titles, two NCAA Tournament appearances and an NIT appearance.

Prior to his appointment at ULM, Early spent four seasons (2001-05) as an assistant under Mark Gottfried at Alabama. The Crimson Tide topped the 20-win mark three times, posted a combined 88-41 record, advanced to four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, held a No. 1 national ranking, won an SEC regular-season championship and made an NCAA Elite Eight appearance with Early on the bench. His work as an assistant coach was recognized on a national level in 2004, as Athlon Sports named him the third-best assistant coach in the nation. "

Yeah, sarcasm because Yow's attempted hype job yesterday was a bit much. It's a decent group of assistants, sure, but she said 'THE BEST COACHING STAFF IN THE NATION, NO HYPERBOLE"

Gaudio himself is a lot to excited about as an assistant. Both he and Gottfried are good recruiters, if the other guys are good basketball minds who know how to teach players then I'll be excited.

who has a more experienced assistants group in the ACC?

All of these guys have real coaching experience and I don't mean the kind that comes from being a basketball player under Coach K and being given a job.

thing is, David Glenn and Adam/Joe both talked multiple times about how Sidney Lowe had some of the lowest amount of support from his assistants than the majority of coaches around the country, and definitely in the ACC.

The fact that Gottfried had success in the past, and our potential assistants have experience (and hopefully will be "specialists" in one way or another) makes me very optimistic about the future.

If we get Harrick, get ready for the "how many points is a 3 point shot worth" question.

I know the test and "class" were done by Jr at Georgia. I'm just saying that if he (Sr) comes to State, the way he left Georgia will be brought up over and over. I do not want to see Jim Harrick on the bench for us.
