New wireless thermostat installed today. Had the EIM/Controller installed in my coat closet as opposed to having the controller at the unit in the crawl space like the original one was. Wouldn't normally make much of a difference except that with this wireless setup, if the power goes out, sometimes you have to re-connect the devices which includes pressing a button on the wired controller and then accepting the signal on the wireless thermostat. I didn't want to have to get in the crawl space just to do that so this works out great.
Bad news is that the leak is (as expected) at the evaporator coil. System is 9 years old, so I am planning to get a quote to replace the evaporator coil at this point in time I believe. I will probably also get a quote to replace my entire system with a new 410a setup, but at 9 years old my other parts should have a few more years in them and I hate to spend the money to replace everything at only 9 years. 8/17/2011 2:17:34 PM |
