Boston's ERA for September is over 6 and an all-time low for the franchise; beating their previous low in the 1932 season.

They've lost 18 games in September.

Even if I didn't hate the Red Sox, I still wouldn't feel sorry for them. They knew that pitching was their weakness the entire season, and probably last season, and probably the season before that. A bunch of has-beens and a couple never will-be's shouldn't be in the pitcher vocabulary of a team that's perennially in the top 5 in player salaries each year. Stupid is as stupid does.

Also, that Crawford fiasco with the Yankees feigning interest to jack up the price on the Sox is pretty lol-worthy, too.
