That is about what my 24v Cummins 2wd Dodge gets hauling as well. But bump the tuner up, get caught in a lot of stop and go, or generally drive like a madman and expect 11-12.

towing a 5th wheel toy hauler with any diesel pickup will not net you 15-17 mpg....more like 10-12 if youre lucky. I just towed my boat 400 miles that weighs 9klbs and is much more aerodynamic than a 5th wheel and was lucky to get 11mpg towing no more than 65mph

^^ the difference is you can't sell those hotel stays when you're done. they're 100% opex. a truck and trailer I can recoup between 75 and 100+ percent of my initial investment if I shop smart. if the question was how could I ride in a piece of shit that get's me there as cheap as possible with the possibility of a single, non-riding passenger, I'd keep driving my van.

thinking outside the box, if I could find a 24 hour gym near most tracks I attend that I could get a cheap membership to, I'd be in business to haul with a car/wagon/suv on the cheaps except all my guests would require a membership to get a shower

^that is an excellent call sir. I been reading up truck stop locations now. Pilot travel seems to be near most tracks and it's ~$10/shower or you can buy 50gal of fuel and get one free looks like it could work for some tracks like RA and barber but im lookin at 30-50mi 1 way for NJMP, summit, and jennings gp.

^I'd agree if it was any season but summer. But if its summer time and you're wearing full protective gear I'd imagine you'll be pretty damn hot. Nevermind that it's even hotter on the track itself, and around the pit area.

you get cooled down when your on the track... well depends if your leathers has some good ventilation. Also wearing performance wear under the leathers help with moving sweat away from the body. But yeah, the second you get off the bike, it heats up like a son of a bitch.

I've seen some water cooling vest systems in really hot scenarios to cool the body temp down.

I've seen some cars set up with the cool vest. Pimp ass device that cools you without being a drag on the engine. Of course I don't have money for one so I sweat my ass off in the car

the amount you sweat at the track is akin to working out in a garbage bag. going without a shower is out of the question. nevermind i'd still be sleeping in a bed/sleeping bag/device that would be difficult to wash and I'd have to sleep on it again in the future.

they make a pop up tent like shower that is pretty cheap. You can also get a 12V pump and use it to pump water from a tank or barrel that you have filled up. But your best option might be finding a gym and using those showers.

If all you're pulling is a bike, and you're trying to make an economic argument, you should buy a Honda civic and put a tow hitch on it.

You will not recoup anywhere near your investment because you are forgetting about fuel, consumables, taxes and upkeep.

With a Honda and hotel rooms it would take you 300+ track days to hit the tipping point financially. If you include gas cost, it would be closer to 500 days.

also, please post what math you calculated 300 hotel stays + a civic + a hitch to be remotely close to that of a truck and trailer. you can sell the civic when you're done, you can sell the truck and trailer when you're done, you can't sell the hotel rooms.

anyway, after driving the ram and the fords, the ford is the clear winner. now to choose which one to buy.
