Asians do seem to hold grudges a long time.

China and Japan still hate each other over WW2, while European countries completely forget about wars and after like 15 years they are close allies again.

^the war between China and Japan have been a feud for ages. WW2 was just one episode of it that has been ragging for more than a 1000 years. Trust me, I grew up in Japan as a Chinese and its socially acceptable racism against us. I've been spit on and yelled at in public places and these were from people who were only 30 years old or so. Hatred does pass on through generations.

Even in Japan, its still a very much closed society, probably more so than China right now. Their national banks do not do business with Americans unless an over sight committee reviews the deals and they openly practice the ideal that given a chance, Japanese businesses must only do businesses with other Japanese people.
