What's a protection bet?

Miami has something like a 6 year opening game losing streak, Patriots are on like a 8 year opening game winning streak. Based off of that, not looking that great for them.

This is also Reggie Bush's premiere on the Miami team and supposedly will have a lot of carries, receptions, and returns according to the coach.

with mia at +300 and the teaser at +160, i can protect the profits with a smaller bet on MIA, barring i dont get middled and lose both with a tie.

so basically, the question is, leave it alone and if the pats win, get money. if the dolphins win, lose money. bet on the dolphins with a smaller amount, and if the pats win get money, but less due to the lost mia bet, or if the dolphins win it'd cover any loses from the original bet plus the mia bet.

the +300 on the ML with the teased line down to .5pts allow for some arbitrage playing.

One way or another you'll come out ahead, just how much of a risk you want to take with losing some of your teaser winnings

I tend to be conservative so I would probably do it, unless the investment you lose from the protection bet means you come out even if New England covers

philly -4 was one of the softest lines ive ever seen Vegas make. I wonder why they did that, they had to get killed on that one. Even casual fans knew that should be 7+

Week one is always the easiest week, they make a lot less mistakes as the season goes on.


New England -7 was a pretty easy bet, but -7.5 makes it much less attractive.
