Quote : | "If you are the parent of a critical needs child or whatever they medically call it, was IS your option if you are emotionally and financially drained from the care necessary? Like I've always wondered, would a parent be found criminally liable if they could no longer afford to take care of a kid like this and had to stop taking them to the doctor? " |
First of all, the government does an adequate job of ensuring that disabled children are cared for medically and financially. The children receive Medicaid and then they also receive a disability check. On top of that, there are Family Support Services available, especially for caregivers who are in crisis.
You really have to advocate for your family, but you have to be aware of what is out there in order to fight for it. Fortunately, the parents of disabled or critically ill children have a fair amount of contact with social workers and/or case managers. If they do their job, they help you find out what is available and help you advocate for your child. And if they're really good at their job, they ask you how you're doing as a caregiver. We've been lucky enough to have encountered some really great social workers and one fantastic case manager. While it is possible to fall through the cracks, there is no reason that this situation had to escalate to the point that it did.

10 minutes, tops.
The only thing that would really offer resistance is the spine, and that's relatively soft for hacksaw.8/18/2011 12:29:27 AM |

have any of you tried to cut something soft with a hacksaw... the blade gets all clogged up and doesn't cut for shit. I guess all my blades are metal cutting though so i didn't even think of the wood cutting options... I wasn't worried about the spine i was just thinking in terms of metal cutting blades you'd pretty much be giving the kid massive abrasions for 10 minutes until you hit something remotely solid. 8/18/2011 9:02:13 AM |

watch the Nick Berg video, it takes a while to hack the head off. Even for Allah-sponsored fucktards.
and I'd just like to echo that I'm curious about the answers to this:

No.
You can turn them over to the state. Some parents are even encouraged to turn them over to the state. There are quite a few children in the system up for adoption who are severely handicapped. People who adopt these children receive government support for the child's care.8/18/2011 9:34:54 AM |
