Did anyone catch Nadal cramping during his press conference? That was nuts. Hopefully he's recovered for today's match.

Quarters
That said, I'm sure Nadal will pull through today's match in straight sets.

Young has a chance against Murray, but Murray will probably win. He's a pusher, and Young will make more unforced errors. Whoever makes the most unforced errors will definitely lose this match. Should be fairly dull. Both players are defensive. Won't see a ton of winners.

Ferrer is too fit for Roddick, and he's playing well right now. Roddick will lose in 5.

Isner is playing great right now. He's got an edge over Simon.

For the quarters, I'm thinking Isner vs Murray and Ferrer vs Nadal for lower half of the draw. After that, Isner vs Nadal, with Nadal making it to the final.

Prediction: Djokovic/Nadal final ... Djokovic will win.

Also, Sock and Oudin are in the semis in mixed doubles. Pretty cool. Would be neat to see those kids win the thing. They just took out Bob Bryan and his partner.

Yeah, the press conference was nuts. That said, pretty sure he was put on an IV immediately after to rehydrate his body. It happens to a lot of the guys on tour ... espec on this surface. But the timing was unfortunate.

With that in mind, the cancellation of today's matches greatly benefits Nadal. The extra day gives him more time to recover.

His body is seriously overtrained. Thank god this is the last slam of the season. His body needs a rest.

Sorry, I was analyzing today's matches. Before they were cancelled.

Give me a moment for details ... but Federer is going down in the semis.

Djokovic is too good right now. He'll beat Tipsarevic in 3 sets.

Federer looked good last night ... and since it was an easy match, he'll be well-rested for Tsonga. Tsonga is looking good. He's been conditioning with the top trainer in the world, but I think Federer's too good. He'll take Tsonga in 4. Maybe 5.

In the semis, Djokovic has the edge over Federer. I think Djokovic has an easier quarter match, so he'll be very well-rested going into the semis. That, and he has a huge mental edge going in.

seems to be a little more forward looking than what was scheduled for today.

And you think Tsonga is gonna beat him?

Tsonga will not beat Federer. He makes too many errors. Federer just doesn't miss. But Djokovic is on fire. I don't see Federer beating him in the semis.

Spose there is a decent chance of Fed going down to Tsonga...Tsonga just beat him last month on a hard court, and before that Fed lost to him in the quarters of Wimbledon. Total he's 0-2 vs Tsonga this year.

My main rationale for Federer's edge over Tsonga is that he's better rested coming into the match.

Tsonga just played 5 sets against Fish. Federer might as well have been playing a Futures match last night.

Again, Tsonga has been conditioning in Vegas with the best trainer in the world, so his conditioning is up there. But I think Federer does have the edge. It won't be an easy match, but Federer has an advantage.

My bf recently retired from the tour, so we've discussed this at length. We nerd out over this stuff.

Exactly. The rain cancellation most benefits Nadal, IMO.

Also, apparently, Federer is a little apathetic about some of the smaller tournaments. He has won everything. I think the Slams bring out a bigger fight in him.

My money is on Ferrer. Though if he makes it into the quarters, I don't see him beating Nadal.

Isner has the best shot of the American dudes.

That was a great match though. Del Potro was so unexpected that year.

^^i dont know if they showed the sky much in this match, i just assumed the lights were on. i mean, they have night matches in the open right?

you know what, now that i think about it, they were doing these thing at commercials where they were flashing around NY and then said something about hte 2009 finals, i just assumed they were doing mini-restrospectives

the moral of the story is that tv makes you a zombie and it is bad but we FUCKING NEED IT!

I think they need to put a date stamp on the screen. They always have the "live" graphic up for live broadcasts. Seems a date graphic would also be informative.

Of course, it might kill ratings.

Those courts get very slick. Huge liability to have the guys playing in the rain.

I don't blame Roddick for complaining about wet spots on the court Not safe. And at this point in his career, he wouldn't come back from an injury. Plus, a huge chunk of change is at stake.

Would have loved to see Young make it to the quarters, but this is still a pretty awesome showing for the kid.

Isner needs to get his act together.

He's in mixed doubles semis with Melanie Oudin this afternoon. Grandstand following the Stosur match. He'll prob hit the court around 4.

I think they could win the whole thing. That would be pretty huge for those two.

He's a big kid. Knocks the hell out of the ball. Good to see him doing well in doubles. Focusing on finesse will really help his singles game as well.

^ her bf is a beast

Actually, most of the folks on tour are beastly. I ran into Ivo Karlovic at a racket club in Boca a couple of months ago. And Venus Williams shortly thereafter.

Growth hormones are no joke. Those kids are pumped full of so much crap that it's kind of surprising to still see chicks who are only 5'6" out there. And they'll rage on you at the drop of a hat. Scary hormones going on.
