I was also doubtful Amerson would get a pick yesterday. Great to see the hype, hopefully he can continue his great play. Has the nfl size.

Every time Chapel Hill looked in his direction he was all over the ball. He's a hawk. If he keeps improving he's going to be an NFL caliber CB, seriously.

The kid is a stud. He's into the game too. You can watch him getting pumped when we're lining up and before he makes plays. I wish I had some footage from yesterday... He covered a receiver on the visitor's side of the field and positioned himself right in between Renner and the receiver. If Renner had tried to throw to that receiver, it WOULD have been a pick six. Instead Renner threw it high and out of bounds and you could see Amerson throw his hands down in frustration.

I love him. He's this year's Nate Irving, I ALWAYS look for #1 just like last year I was always watching Nate.

hell yeh man. same here.

he was going into seizure after he fell during the pick during the liberty game with 55 seconds left or something. you could see it in his body how badly he wanted to run it back for 6. it's awesome to see players with that kind of emotion and fire every single game and play almost.

for reference: that play was the 3rd down throw with 6:51 left in the first quarter. i'm waiting for the torrent still, but it's on espn3.com among other places to watch it.

He's stated that Charles Woodson is actually one of his idols.

This. He definitely resembles Charles Woodson. Charles is an absolute BEAST on the field.

I was trash talking one of my friends (who is a UNC fan) in Charlotte yesterday before the game about how Amerson was gonna have at LEAST 1 INT against them. Man, it felt GREAT to be right. LOL All he could say was "You actually predicted that ish. Good job. He is a good player. Y'alls secondary is on point." Great player, is the better phrase in my opinion.

At one point coming out of a timeout or something music was playing in the stadium and he was bobbing his head and just staring at Hightower for like 30 seconds and then started clapping his hands at him and shit. It was a great moment for me.

Wow, Audie Cole is ABOVE Vontaze Burfict (the man who was projected to be the #1 LB in the draft at the beginning of the season)!?!? I didn't even expect him to be considered, but nice.

Amerson at #8!

He's so confident. His almost instant maturity when he got here has made all the difference.

why would you want to put this kid at WR? he's a monster as a dback. this isn't a video game, he can't run circles all day.

and i can't tell who it is on the replay, but the block to start that return was brutal.

I wouldn't on this team but an NFL team may have different needs. he played WR in high school. who would have thought an NFL team would use Armanti Edwards as a PR after he threw for two national championships?

has someone credible brought this up or are people just saying "well he played WR in high school, so he could probably play WR in the nfl too!"?

i don't know why you'd look at a kid that our staff evaluated as not a d1 receiver who is playing great as a d1 dback and think he'd play even better in the nfl as a receiver. one has to assume that our staff is better at evaluating players than the staff at dudley high school in greensboro.

so what am i missing here?

actually the announcer said it right after he made the pick so I'm the only one saying this. guy actually said something about him being from Greensboro and watched him a lot in high school and was surprised they didn't play him at WR because of his hands and speed (and prior experience).

oh and my original quote
Quote :
"he could easily play receiver too"
doesn't imply that I would rather put him there, and I agree that he's performed very well at DB (obviously), I'm just saying he has the hands to play both positions well

I'm not saying he should play WR...just that he apparently did in HS. There's much more to being a WR than good hands...(plus he's a great DB, which is something we need)

They could put some packages together for amerson at WR. say 10 snaps a game or less. TJ is MIA lately.

Do you guys really want our best defensive player to blow out his knee playing offense? Because that's what would happen.
