I was going to offer basically the same thing that smc offered, but I'd trust his scooter mechanic skills over my own. That said, I've rescued tons of jet skis and ATVs that have sunk and a night in fresh water shouldn't kill your scoot. Pull the spark plug, blow out any water in the cylinders by turning over the engine, spray some WD40 in there, dump the oil, put some oil (any oil..Even used oil from a car) in there, crank it, run it, change the oil again, and you should be good to go.

The longer it sits the worse the damage will be though...This is the type of thing that needs to be fixed sooner rather than later. Sitting for long periods with water in the engine is how you actually mess stuff up.

and the engine is intact, in fact I still have my really old scooter that is missing parts. I was hoping to haul my scooter home so I could put the shitty chinese parts in my old one. That was before when the officer who had my scooter towed to N. Raleigh before asking me told me that it would be free to pick it up today, but they just charge storage fees. they want $100 for the hunk of junk, and considering that I would have a long list of repairs, it would probably cost more than it is worth. I would if I had the extra cash, it would be a fun project.

Wow, this thread made half sense.

I'm sorry about your scooter, it sounds like the mechanic dudes here have offered you sound advice.

And, I hate to say it, they rarely recover stolen scooters, so consider yourself lucky that you even got
yours back in its waterlogged state. Nearly every friend I've had, with a scooter, has had it stolen at
some point, and had to get another.

and I am glad I got see she the destruction, I really wish I could see it crash on tape or something, that would be awesome. Also I got back a scarf that was a present, and it was really nice.

But ultimately it pissed me off more. I was hoping (somehow, not realistic I know) that the person desperately needed it in someway, like sell parts so their family could eat... blah blah maybe it helped someone kinda crap. But it was likely a drug/alcohol induced joy ride at my complete loss at a critical point in the semester, and I am a TA and expected to stay certain hours, sometimes until 8 pm.... and then I have to ride a bus for 40 minutes to get 4 miles from campus. It is just frustrating to know how useless it was to flush something down the drain that I had saved up for and was planning to get insurance around christmas..... anyway, it is gone... and my stupid phone is never going to be recovered, but shit happens.


on a side note, I got on the bus to go home after my scooter was stolen, and this dude was playing "don't worry" by B. marley and it was very true, every little thing is going to be alright

Sweetie, life is going to get a lot harder than losing your cellphone and having a scooter stolen.
