TOB has had average results, I'm fine with that. We're an average football school. Fedora would be a decent hire for an ACC school, but not a homerun. No one is going to click on espn.com and think, HOLY SHIT, UNC JUST HIRED LARRY FEDORA!!!

Relax BIG GUY.

Out of him, Malzahn, and Skippy, he is the best coach of the three no doubt.

Holtz is a poor man's Butch Davis.

Agreed. My UNC buddies who have season tickets are super pissed at the thought of Holtz.

They want Kirby Smart.

The Fulmer Cup just hasn't been the same without him.

and on a somewhat related note, former Vol Jay Graham hired at UT as RB coach. Cant be worse than this year. When I heard this I went back and looked at some clips of his while at UT, seems like a lifetime ago haha, so dominant now so bad.

Also, I competed against Jay at the University Center in one of those dual bungee cord challenge running things while in college... needless to say, he demolished me haha

Not gonna lie, Fedora would be a good hire for them. I think he's getting a lot of knee-jerk praise because his win over Houston, but UNC could do much worse.

That said, it's not like Fedora put Southern Miss on the map. The guy who coached before him -- Jeff Bower -- had 14 straight winning seasons and several conference championships before Fedora arrived.

Also, I've never heard or paid much attention to Fedora, but he seems to be an arrogant SOB from everything I've read. Southern Miss fans don't even seem to care he's leaving. If UNC isn't gonna hire a bad coach, I'm glad they're at least hiring one who's easy to hate.

This guy on IC, KenanSummerLager, has been posting a lot of updates (seemingly credible) and just posted this:
Quote :
"Sources are backtracking. A&M making a last second push."

and Joe Schad tweeted:
Quote :
"Larry Fedora is the strong lead candidate at UNC but deal not completed yet"

Still waiting on the official announcement I suppose.

I was hoping he'd go to A&M. I was really hoping for Gus Malzahn's crazy wife to be at UNC.

They are likely overpaying for Fedora to keep him away from aTm. Honestly, of the ones they were looking at, he is the one that I didn't want them to get. Wonder if any of the lunatics on PP will contact the NAACP like they threatened seeing as they are firing a minority and hiring another cheater.

So, have they still not officially announced Fedora as head coach?

Are they waiting until after his bowl game or is it not a completely done deal?

Sounds like they are having trouble finalizing a deal. Considering how many coaches they are paying and the impending sanctions (knock on wood) the BOT is probably weary of forking over a lot of lettuce for a guy like fedora. Would be hilarious if this deal blows up and they are back to scouring cusa for plan b c d

"This process has been mismanaged, unprofessional, uninspiring, and just plain embarrassing. It is a reflection on the AD and the President and demonstrates an ambivalence towards the athletic program as a whole. Arguably, extending Sendek is further evidence of a perspective of doing the minimum necessary. Is it any wonder alumni support towards the University as a whole is so poor? Until and unless real change happens - the program will remain irrelevant in the national picture. Gross Malfeasance in my opinion."

Since it looks like nobody bothered to post a link...http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/7350900/sources-arkansas-state-red-wolves-hire-gus-malzahn-auburn-tigers-football-coach.

Something just seems off about him taking a pay cut to go to Ark St after all the openings this year. Although, maybe he's just an evil genius and realizes he can run shit for a few years at an already decent Ark St and then be a lock for any high profile SEC job that opens up.

Yeah that does seem a little sketch. I would think he would have just stayed on as a coordinator at Auburn rather than take that type of HC job. Maybe he figures the Big East will invite them and he could take them all the way to the orange bowl!

^Just waiting on Petrino at Arkansas. Only a matter of time before Petrino bolts again, and I'm guessing Malzahn thinks why not be a head coach right down the road, ready for Arkansas to come calling.
