Hopefully now that another team took him his spirit will finally stop dragging this club down.

The Mets rotation is good enough to prevent 95 losses. Part of me hopes Pelfrey blows up so Harvey can get some seasoning this year..

Braves offense is complete shit. 3-4 automatic outs in the lineup.

LOL the Mets have the best opening day record of any team in MLB. Something like 39-18 now.

Kirk Nieuwenhuis to debut in CF tomorrow. Looks pretty solid on defense, and offense seems decent for AAA, but we'll see how he does against MLB pitching.

In case Opening Day gets rained out

That's pretty much the only chance the Mets get at a sellout this year

This sounds exciting, if I wasn't in NC this week on vacation I would totally take a bus from Boston to see this game:
Quote :
"The highlight of the Mets' three-game series against Washington figures to be Wednesday's finale, with Johan Santana pitching against Stephen Strasburg. New York is selling $2.50 tickets for that game, to be played on the 50th anniversary of the Mets' debut."

Did the Expressway Visual to 31 on opening day, but missed the game by a couple of hours. Gotta catch a game or two this year.

Certainly a good start and great to see such a young/homegrown team being run out but it's still a very tall order to compete. I will say that comparing rosters with the Braves and I fail to see how that roster is significantly better than ours, even with old man Chipper in there. Lots of what ifs.

"Facing Cliff Lee, one of the league's best and most consistent pitchers, the Mets twice jumped on mistakes in a 5-2 victory over the Phillies. Jason Bay homered. Scott Hairston homered. And it was R.A. Dickey, not Lee, who furthered his consistency over the past 11 months, submitting his 14th consecutive quality start dating back to last season."

4-0 against teams not from DC

Duda has one hell of a swing, but he is a defensive liability. I really like the new kid (Nieuwenhuis).

So I guess the buzz is that the Wilpon's settled because those suing didn't think they'd be able to pay the settlement anyway so it was better to get some than none. Not good news for locking up David Wright long-term. If the second franchise player leaves in a matter of two seasons for simple lack of money then MLB needs to step in like they did with the Dodgers.

Santana last start - 1.1 IP, 4 ER, 0K
Santana this start - 6.1 IP, 1 ER, 2 BB, 11K

Good to know last week was just a fluke. Reyes 0-4 on his return to NY.

Reyes this season: .215 BA (65 at-bats)
Nieuwenhuis: .327 BA (52 at-bats)

Looks like it is working out for us so far.

Switched back from the Rangers game right as he hit it.

They tried him out in CF this spring, no? Wasn't a natural 2B coming up?

We're now 11-5 vs the rest of the division. Only Washington has a better record but haven't been tested nearly as much (6-2).
