^not dishonest at all. I've ordered from them a few times and they tell you 2-3 times before your order is finalized that shipping charges are not shown because they charge actual cost and will notify you with the actual charges when the product ships. Not the best policy if you're ordering a 100lb tv but it works well for most of their products (though an estimate would be a good idea).

Btw I agree with Nacho. They completely fucked up this product launch. Basically they did the polar opposite of everything they said (and promised) they would do.

I'll still be buying one, but not until they are coming from a reputable US distributor.

I've been meaning to. Actually, shit, I'll do it right now. I hadn't tried it out before now because I didn't have a usb mouse, but I ordered a $3 one off ebay that got here 2 days ago so I will try xbmc and report back.

It's not half bad. Installation was easy, even for n00bs. It even downloaded the latest build automatically during initial setup. I had read plenty of people online complaining that audio over HDMI wasn't working properly, but it seems to be fine on mine. Outputting DTS 5.1 right now. It even works with the official xbmc iPhone remote app. I read it works with the Android one too. Has major artifacting when you skip around, even on small SD files, but it goes away after a couple of seconds. I tried one highish bitrate 1080p movie that had small amounts of constant artifacting and it stopped every minute to buffer (I'd classify that as unwatchable) but I've been watching Avatar (16GB 1080p Bluray rip, streaming off a Windows share) now for 8 minutes and it hasn't skipped, artifacted, or buffered once. Overall, I'd say I'm pretty impressed. Especially since this is pre-release software running on $35 hardware. My initial reaction is that this is almost as good as running XBMC on an ATV2. I think once the bugs get worked out, it will be as good as, if not actually a little better.

I would still recommend a Roku/popcorn hour/wdtv/Apple TV/anything else over this if you're looking for that. Unless you have a strict $35 budget.

Not to take away from the Pi but has anyone here looked into cubieboard?

Basically a pi with double the processing power, double the memory at 1GB, 4GB nand built in, ir sensor, and many pins, most of which are able to function as gpio. Seems like a nice little bump in power for a small bump in price.

Processor I believe is ARMv7 so it should support newer androids fairly easily along with linux distros and maybe even windows 8 assuming one could emulate a RTC or tie one in (not sure if it has one)

Yes I do and it is amazing. I have the entire NES, SNES, and Sega libraries. I use a standard PS3 controller (wired) and it works just fine.
