There's usually a better intro at the start, it was pretty boring getting to the title screen

Only got to play for about an hour last night, though the intro was solid. Some of the scenes looked really sharp, esp some of the water.

Felt like I crossed the Atlantic in real-time though, took forever, haha.

so is this a must-buy if you're a fan of the series? i'm a bit turned off by the Native American setting because i loved running across the rooftops of Italy/etc.

So I have not been a fan of the Assassin's Creed franchise. I tried to play the first one and just couldn't get into it so I skipped all the rest. Is this worth while or would I just be wasting my time and money?

Actually the first game had the best chases, but everything else got better with the 2nd one.

So far I haven't gotten very far...stupid "Cowboy Checkers" tempting me, haha.

I need to re-start it. I've just fucked around so much I lost track of the plot.

My question is if I do all the vantage points with Haytham do they go away when I start using Connor?

They changed a lot of little things for this game, mostly for the good. So far it's pretty fun.

Free-running a little more fluid, fighting off a mob a little harder, you have to actually aim (a little) when shooting, button-command fighting (in at least one part) like when taking out bosses in god of war 3, more animals, better looking water, snow, and talking.

Why did they choose to make the final assassination of the man you want to kill the entire game.... 2 cut-scenes? You only get to chase him through a stupid fire and then you don't get the pleasure of killing him. Ubisoft shoots him and stabs him on your behalf.

my biggest complaint with this game so far is the optional objectives.. i naturally want to 100% the game, but the optional objectives are arbitrary and put you on rails more than previous AC games. current one that's annoying me is chase a guy without shoving anyone. WHY DOES THAT MATTER?

It's not that bad, you just have to cut ahead of him and flank him instead of chasing him. I think I used a horse one time too, not sure if that counted for hitting people or not.

haha i was just frustrated last night -- had to play bunker hill twice because for some reason it didn't like my air assassination at the end.

then i for some reason was daft and didn't realize you had to tackle the guy, thought you'd just chase him into a cutscene (until he went in a loop, ha)

i'm enjoying all the side stuff more than the main missions i think.

Yeah I'm ~70% done, haven't finished the main story yet. I've been doing every possible side-mission before advancing. Right now I'm on the Homestead leveling up all the settlers and crafting a bunch of stuff haha.

I'm enjoying this game. It's very easy to learn (never played one before) and it's easy to pick it up, play a mission, put it down. I'll probably finish this game somewhere in the next year

This is precisely why I can't get into AC games. "Hold A and move forward". It's a little too streamlined for my tastes.

I complained like crazy about multiplayer at first. The menus and instructions are just not clear. I still stand by that, but once you play a couple dozen matches, you learn the intricacies. It is completely different from the multiplayer games I am used to and a nice change of pace. Nothing is better than tricking another player who is trying to assassinate you into killing a civilian dressed like you and then smacking the shit out of them.

Finally got the game and I just completed sequence 2. Does the game ever pick up? The city seems dead with nothing to do. So far it's a huge step down from AC2.

In one of the missions I found out the hard way that you had to find and kill a general before you freed the captives. I was past a checkpoint to correct, so I restarted mid-mission. I had forgotten that I had to start all the way back at the wagon approach. Later in the mission I get shot and fail an objective (that I didn't even remember seeing being flashed up on the screen). Rather than restart I just said you know what, I'm going to give my OCD a rest this time because I don't want to sit through ALL THAT again. I'm assuming that getting 100% doesn't unlock things, it's just a number, right?

After some technical difficulties, I was finally able to install this a week or two ago and start playing. Overall it's a very good game, but it's also insanely frustrating.

For one, a lot of these secondary objectives make the game much harder than it should be (or not, if you simply don't give a shit about doing them). I remember one where I had to sneak onto a boat to blow it up, and I couldn't be detected. But I also had to air-assassinate a specific enemy type. I could see not being detected, but why am I going to air-assassinate someone on a boat? Why not just ledge-assassinate his ass instead of doing some flashy kill that will surely get you noticed? Or that chase at the end where you can't shove anybody and you have to stay within a certain range of the target? It took me over a dozen tries to get it, especially considering that the free-running would fuck up a few times (another complaint).

The other major point of frustrating is how fucking buggy this game still is. I figured it was just as well that I couldn't install the game right away since that would allow for some time for patches to come out. But it's still not enough. The free-running fucks up about as much as before, I've noticed that Connor sometimes does mini-teleports of a 2 or 3 feet when I'm running around, and the minimap is heavily fucked up. I've missed out on several side quests because they never show up on my map, even when I run around and explore the area. Which is another major problem that I had; why am I having to run around and fill in my map in most places? Why weren't there more view points? And of those that existed, it didn't feel like they filled in very much.

And finally, I'm mixed about the ending. SPOILERS AHEAD

I really don't think there was any need to kill Desmond off. I can understand if Ubisoft was getting tired of him and wanted to move on to someone fresh, but this was totally unnecessary. Desmond could have just said "fuck it, I'm done with the Animus. I want to spend time secret-shanking some bitches now" and just left it at that. And since we've followed him for 4 games now, for better or for worse he's grown on me. And now they just kill him off and take him away. What point did his sacrifice serve? And how exactly did Juno getting free stop the solar flare from doing any serious damage?

Still, I'll give the writers' credit. I did not expect that the vault was actually Juno's prison. I gathered from the in-game emails that she definitely had a presence down in there, but I kept thinking that the vault would still contain some sort of way to mitigate or stop the solar flare. Then one by one they kept dismissing every possibility and I was left wondering how they were going to save the world.

But I'm still disappointed with it. It took the First Civilization tens of thousands of years to leave clues behind for Desmond to find a glorified prison? Why did Minerva hope he would find it? If she knew that Juno was busy plotting her own plans for world domination why lead him to this place?

The whole ending just feels completely out of left field. Really it seems like the writers insisted on painting themselves into a corner and then just threw something together because there was a deadline.

I'm slowly churning through this game, sequence 9, 44% complete, and I think it's awesome, as good as the other ones.

I haven't figured out the recipes or the convoys yet, but haven't taken the time to look them up on the internet. Any help? I did make a barrel once, but that's it.

Also, I happened to find a synchronization point that wasn't shown on my map. Are there hidden ones?
