It was primarily intended to sell comic books. The TV shows, however, were made to sell toys.

I guess the real beef people have is that Bay seems intent on trying to sell a TNMT movie without the first T or the M. It's like making a Harry Potter movie and deciding that Harry is going to be a chimp who's telekinetic.

Then again, it's not like Bay really has to do much to make one of the top turtles films. The first turtles movie actually did a decent job of using the comic material and trying to merge it with what the cartoon viewers expected to see, but it was all downhill after that. The second one dove headlong into a more cartoonish version of the turtles. I vaguely recall something after that about video game obsessed samurai warriors but I I've mostly blocked that one out of my mind.

I never saw the CGI movie. From what others told me it was easily better than 2 and what came after 2.

I just don't buy that the comics, tv show or films are some great artistic vision worthy of being defended from change. This isn't Apocalypse Now we're talking about, it isn't revealing some essential truth about the human condition so nobody should give a fuck if Michael Bay or anyone else wants to mess with it.

The thing is, you soulless fucking bastard, is that most people who care about this shit were between 4 and 13 years old when the Turtles first got big, and they didn't care if it was all a marketing ploy. We were naive, we loved it, and we bought that shit up. And now, even 20+ years later, its still real to us, dammit. So when someone fucks with that, it upsets us.

For the record, in the comics, the OOZE was made by aliens, and Krang is based on those aliens. So they were sort of always aliens.

They haven't said they'd be from another planet, and the original TMNT dudes are involved. The only thing worse than remakes is listening to a whole bunch of bitches complaining about remakes. It's happening. Accept it.
