I'm nervous about this. I'm not a well-adjusted adult so I have a lot invested in this film emotionally.

^ Can we get a TLDW? I watched the first 5 minutes, most of it was him doing typical one liners that any news caster would and handing it off to the chick.

Not much to see. He stayed in character pretty much the whole time, but didn't use any crazy lines like he does in the movie. It was kinda funny when he hit on his co-anchor.

I suppose tone/timing just doesn't do it for you?

For Ron Burgundy to be funny, you need the whole cast around him, imo. Him doing a real newscast is like sitting beside the class clown for a whole class period. It's funny for the first 5 minutes and then his schtick gets old real quick.

super uneven, but damn if the highs weren't worth it

I won't spoil anything, but there is a scene in which I wouldn't mind watching on a loop

That last 20 minutes hit another gear.

I thought it was a great sequel. Definitely lived up to my expectations.

Saw this yesterday. When asked, I tell my friends to download it rather than pay for it. It was ok but I felt like the entire film (minus the last 20 minutes) were just Will Ferrel's random quips over and over (like where he sees something and goes MERLINS BEARD THATS REPULSIVE, etc.). There wasn't much that seemed scripted, which has its merits, but overall not that great of a movie but that's kind of what I expected. Note that I loved the first one, though.

The end is the best with all of the cameos.

The only good things I've heard about this movie were the first few posts on here and from my hipster brother in law. Everyone else seems to have hated it. Not sure if I should see this or not.

It was bad IMO. The first half of the movie was decent and they were actually on the right track to a good story by crediting the Channel 4 News Team with creating today's brand of sensationalized news programming. But, for some reason, they decided Ron Burgundy should have a kid in this movie and that torpedoed the second half. As for "the brawl", it was too over the top for my tastes, which is saying something considering the type of film I knew I was going to see.

Pretty much that. The hipsters can love it, but I thought it was pretty meh. There were a few LOL moments, but most of it missed for me. I wish I had my $7 back. Should have saw American Hustle instead.

pretty funny that someone is complaining about the brawl being "too over the top" when that's exactly what they were going for

how can a scene like that be too over the top?

I loved the movie but I thought the "Ron's son" subplot was unnecessary and never really went anywhere funny.

Yeah, Ron going blind, his son, etc were pretty dumb but the satire of 24-hours news and Fox News was excellent. The battle royale was great too.

Uh, I don't think the pokes at Fox News should gives it a pass. The Daily Show and Colbert do it better every day. Minotaurs aren't ridiculous enough. If you want to be ridiculous then be ridiculous the whole way. Go all out.

Not bad, some really great parts and overall good for a laugh. I hated the brawl - just didn't think it was funny or amusing. I loved how earnestly Ron's son was crying in a scene near the end, it was simultaneously really sad and hilarious.

IMO, Brick/Chonnie and Ron's 'disability' were the highlights.

If I get a legitimate belly laugh or two from a comedy, its worth the 10 or so bucks. Movie delivered.

*****semi spoilers

One of my favorite parts was when he was telling the truth but was talking like he was lying.

I like Brick sometimes but I thought they overused him in this one.

Already mentioned, but his son crying in the scene where they set Doby free was great

*****end semi spoilers

Agreed. Hated it. Just not my kind of comedy (and I figured as much when I watched the first one). Hated the brawl as it was too over-the-top. Didn't like the part where the RV flipped and then you see them all dressed up in the news building like nothing happened. The son plot didn't go anywhere really, neither did Ron going blind. IDK....all of it was just awful.
