Heading to SF in the morning - appears i need to pack some goretex, unless of course you'd also suggest that since I'm so used to rain that I won't get wet.

Please advise.

I don't live in SF; I live in the East Bay and it's partly cloudy, just like weather.com says right now. FYI though, it's been the driest rain season on record, going back over 100 years, so people are rejoicing at the ~2 inches of rain we've gotten all month. Since you're from Seattle, you'll be fine. I doubt you'll even need an umbrella.

Getting some recommendations from friends:

Eden Hill
The Walrus and the Carpenter (oysters).
Sitka & Spruce
Mamnoon

Apparently there's a new Steak & Shake?

I'll be in Seattle & Tacoma visiting a friend at the end of the month (yes, Photoshopped baby friend). I've been to most of the touristy things in Sea-Tac but never the space needle - going to insist this trip that we go, thanks to this thread.

Then I'm heading down to Portland for a few days for work; never been. Any must-do's?

In Seattle go and get some donuts from Top Pot Dougnuts. There are a few locations scattered around Seattle and Tacoma. I found them to be most excellent, especially the sandcastle variety.

The Space Needle is cool, but I actually like the view from the Sky View better. It's also cheaper.

Last time I went up on a clear night and drank some pretty good beer and watched the sunset. Way less crowded too.

Really good view of the skyline from Kerry park in the Queen Anne neighborhood. Grab a joint and enjoy the view at night. If you've ever seen a photo of Seattle at night it was probably shot from that park.

Also, Alki Beach has some awesome views and a cool beach vibe. A quick drive over and totally worth checking out.

Did the Space Needle and Chihuly museum yesterday then went to The Walrus and The Carpenter for some amazing oysters. Client has a boat and we're gonna hit the water later this afternoon today. The weather has been gorgeous. Sunny, no clouds, and low humidity. I assume it's not always like this?

Weather was great the first two days then turned to drizzly and cloudy.

This day was super hazy:

But the resulting sun set was awesome:

Also saw 2-3 whales:

Such a dope ass city. I'm looking forward to going back again. I went in October last time, will probably try to hit it during the summer this time around.
