Yeah with plenty of evidence, facts, etc to cite, why mention something dumb like that?

Typical TWW.My point was that if the Insight was designed to take on the Prius, it needs to come to the party with comparable gear. You cannot, in fact, buy a 2nd gen insight without AC.A car that has AC, Radio, Tilt Wheel, and Pwr Windows, needs CC. Especially since the car is DBW and CC is just programming changes...Even the base model 6th gen civic came with carpet.I know you can buy cars without AC. How many of those 9,999 versas do you think sold?

The Insight was specifically designed to be the cheapest hybrid on the market. And it does undercut the Prius by several thousand dollars, all the while being inferior to the Prius in every way...

I'm fairly certain it wasn't offered.Let's get back on OT though
6/15/2012 1:59:45 PM
I'm also pretty sure it wasn't offered, as my car was pretty much optioned out.

Eco IX is not electronic throttle so cruise requires extra hardware compared to a newer engine with drive-by-wire.
6/16/2012 1:14:30 PM
let's be real, though, CC predates drive-by-wire by a LOOOOONG time, and it wasn't really a big deal or considered a highly sought-after and high-class option...it's just something that most cars have, and have had for a long time.my point was just that it isn't really alarming that a base Versa doesn't have it.
6/16/2012 6:13:40 PM
Kia doesn't put it on the manual souls... I don't get it.
6/16/2012 11:26:05 PM
I agree. The Hyundai Genesis R spec (at least, up through 2012 model year) doesn't even offer it. I refuse to own a car without cruise control.

Hey assholes can we get back on topic? thanks!

2018 Civic Type R.~ $35,0002.0 liter turbo 4 306 hp3117 lb170 mph top speedFucking thing looks like a Pontiac Aztek with a hood scoop. Also those specs were impressive...15 years ago when you could get roughly the same thing from an AWD Mitsu Evo.

Damn, I didn't realize civics have broken into the 3000-lb range
6/14/2017 9:27:10 AM
It's about 200 lb heavier than the Si. And roughly 200-400 lb lighter than it's AWD competitors (Golf R, STI & FoRS listed in ascending heftiness).

I thought this thread was about Honda's F1 power unit...

Do they belong in the conversation for top 3 longevity?

I will say, that, while the Insight was built to a strict price point and was inferior to the Prius in order to undercut it on price, mine was the most anvil-reliable machine I have ever owned. I bought it with like 35k miles or something for 10k or 10.5k, and finally sold it for 2700 or something like that with over 355k miles on it. It still ran fine; the only reason I sold it it because it was dented up everywhere from getting hit by other cars a number of times, and took some damage to the front bumper in a gigantic New Orleans pothole. It really just came down to "I kept this thing for so long because I couldn't justify any good reason to sell it; now it's to the point where I make a bunch of money that I don't even spend and it's hard to justify keeping such a beater."I'm trying to think of what I ever had to do do it besides scheduled maintenance. The only thing that comes to mind is that the stereo head unit died with > 300k miles on the car. Other than that, I replaced the shocks and struts at about 175k only because RockAuto was practically giving away a set of them on clearance. Ummm...and a carwash yanked a piece of roof channel trim out once, so I replaced that. I think that may be the entire list.I also had two S2000s, including a supercharged one. Never had any issue with either of them, either. The stock one also had prob 150k or 175k or something when I sold it. I think it might have had a cracked control arm bushing. That's it. Oh, and I've had a Honda lawnmower for, I think...14 years? I had to replace some sort of ignition component once. Few bucks and a few minutes...and I finally literally wore the plastic wheels down smooth on a self-propelled walk-behind, so I replaced those. So yeah, Hondas have been good to me on longevity.[Edited on January 26, 2026 at 8:05 PM. I'm thinking about upgrading my CRV from 18' to 26'. It has been 8 years.

^I'd get a RAV4 instead.^^But none of your experience is with vehicles Honda has built in the last 10-15 years...which is when their reliability dropped significantly (aside from their early 21st century shit-tastic automatic transmission problems).[Edited on January 28, 2026 at 11:13 AM.
