FYI, it was retweeted by Chip, and the twitter account is followed by Bob Mac, so I guess it's legit.

The proposal that the players came up with last week seems pretty reasonable for both sides, yet Gary and the owners balk. Fuck this shit, I just want hockey to start on time.

Can't remember who tweeted it, but the room was 4 lawyers.... so there was no surprise things were a mess today.

Based on zero factual evidence... I don't think we miss any time this season. The NHL can't withstand another lockout of any kind... they'll get a deal done.

I'm incapable of understanding how a league experiencing exponential revenue growth since the last lockout would want another lockout 7 years later.

It just warms my heart knowing that myself, as well as thousands of other arena employees around the league, will be out of a couple thousand dollars per person in the event of a lockout, but the league will be raking in $200 million from the TV deal.

Welp, ESPN3 is gonna be broadcasting KHL games this year. I like it because I'll be able to watch some sort of hockey and you know it's got to piss Bettman off.

The NHL has been a very important aspect of my life for a very long time, but I plan to spend the next several months building up the courage to cleanse it from my life completely. I hope I can reach the point where if they lose the entire season I can leave it all behind and never have anything to do with this league again.

^ solid post. I'm starting to get to the point that I'm not even pissed that they're not playing, and I'm a current full season ticket holder.

KHL goaltending is pretty entertaining, but only because those second-tier Finnish and Russian guys are always letting in howlers.

Islanders are having a "major announcement" at the Barclays Center today. Bettman and Michael Bloomberg to be in attendance. Interesting.

well, we'll know if there's definitely not a hockey season happening if we hear something about this meeting after it's over tonight.

no news is good news, hope that's what happens

I'm optimistic. It's gotta be good that these negotiations are going underground instead of the grandstanding that's been going on in the media. More players are participating today, so that's a good sign too.

"NHLPA STATEMENT FROM EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR DON FEHR

New York City (November 7, 2012) – Don Fehr, National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) Executive Director, released the following statement this evening:

“The NHLPA and the NHL met today to discuss many of the key issues. We look forward to resuming talks tomorrow.”"

5 and a half hour meeting today.

Tomorrow will be the third straight day of negotiations, and the 4th face-to-face meeting in six days after not meeting in person for two weeks.

I wouldn't mind a December 1 start date....
