tree removal = $ texas
A lot of people just wait for the tree to fall so they can make a homeowners claim. 8/17/2012 8:16:54 PM |

did i mention i had a similar situation? i trimmed the branch myself.
[ha yeah i guess i did post about it before. i had trimmed the parts physically touching my house a few weeks ago ~1in diameter... this week i borrowed a ladder and took down the rest of the limb ~12in diameter]

I want to put a burn barrel in my yard to burn some brush and debris. I think that is still legal in City of Raleigh, due to it not being an open burn.
Anyone know the rules on that?
I have over an acre, mostly wooded, and steep, so dragging this stuff to the road in bundles = teh suck. 8/18/2012 9:13:39 AM |

legally speaking, you now have the right to burn that other house down to the ground, legally speaking. 8/18/2012 10:19:10 AM |

Should be fine if it's in a barrel and not something that is illegal to burn (cardboard boxes for one, and I think plastic as well). You might want to give a call to your local FD just to make sure though.
Fortunately for me, my neighbor is our local fire chief. So whenever I need to burn, I just give him a heads up.8/18/2012 10:52:59 AM |

Anyone used a tree removal contractor lately that didn't charge an arm and a leg? I'd like a decent referral or two, and don't want to just cold call companies. I've got a couple of smaller trees I want gone, maybe 14" or so diameter. It looks like the tops got knocked out of the trees a long time ago, so they definitely spread wider than they are tall.
I've called a company our neighbor used - they charged her $600-700ish to remove several trees and grind stumps. Which is peanuts compared to some that have paid several large to remove trees...

I got some good bids, one crew was very professional about the bidding process, one was shady as hell and wanted me to make sure there were no snakes in my yard.
I ended up putting off the tree slaughtering because of spending the money on other things. I will post the company that came out ITT tomorrow when I feel like finding the paperwork. 9/7/2012 2:12:31 AM |

I am pretty sure that all of them have Certified Arborist on staff...Arbormax is the only one I am unsure about.
I have taken bids from all 4 of these companies on multiple occasions. Arbormax is generally the cheapest, but each has their merits. 9/7/2012 4:49:49 PM |

Whoops, totally forgot about this.
The next time I talked to them the asked if I was going to pay it, and I said no. They said okay, and that was it. I've seen them a few times since then and they've been friendly. 9/8/2012 2:38:36 PM |
