What do Christians care about oil companies...? That's the most bizarre part of that review.

This might be the best content synopsis I've ever read

Quote :
"(PaPaPa, PCPCPC, FRFRFR, HoHoHo, AbAb, AcapAcap, B, OO, LLL, VVV, SS, NN, A, DD, M) Very strong pagan, slightly mixed, politically correct worldview promoting the false theologies of reincarnation, transmigration of souls, and a universalistic afterlife, while presenting a radical liberal, radical libertarian, hedonistic, pro-homosexual, “transsexual” definition of freedom and love that implicitly attacks Christian, Western values and turns a Christian clergyman into a smarmy pro-slavery advocate, plus some anti-capitalist elements where Big Oil is trying to destroy nuclear power, mixed with some anti-slavery elements and a running theme about the sinfulness of man leading to cannibalism, plus some occult content includes scenes of witchcraft and talk about seeing the future; 33 obscenities, two strong profanities, five light profanities, vomiting in one scene; very strong violence with blood at times includes stabbing in face, at least a couple throats slit, pointblank shooting in head, blood on wall, cannibal soldier licks human blood around mouth, man’s hands bleed while holding mountain climbing rope, blood on bathtub from suicide victim, corpses hung on hooks in cannibalistic slaughterhouse scene, plus strong violence includes futuristic gunfights and explosions, 1970s gunfight, implied suicide, suicidal man puts gun into mouth, woman threatened with gun, chase scenes, man holds bloody body of homosexual lover who shot himself in the mouth, writer throws critic off roof and man hits street below with a thud, car run off the road and plunges into ocean, doctor slowly poisons man to steal his gold; depicted fornication in one scene, man squirts bottle at waitress clone to harass her sexually, man puts hand on waitress clone’s rear end, homosexual lovers lying in bed and they kiss, and young couple in bed when girl’s parents suddenly return home unexpectedly; upper female nudity in at least two scenes, plus upper and rear male nudity, and naked man hides his genitals with a cat but the cat starts to scratch him and he tumbles out a window; alcohol use; smoking cigarettes in one scene and smoking marijuana in two scenes; and, greed, slavery but rebuked, themes of cannibalism, oppression rebuked in politically correct ways that are hedonistic, man and other people held in crazy nursing home against their will, deceit, people worship a cultural hero as if she were a god, but man is told woman wasn’t really a god."

And this is great

Quote :
"Big Oil is another villain in the future in one of the silliest plot devices in recent movie history. Of course, the crusading willing to steal to get her story biased news journalist is the hero. Some of the audience at the press screening laughed out loud.

Regrettably, the future world in CLOUD ATLAS is just reincarnation. It isn’t, however, Hindu reincarnation where you can come back as a cockroach or a cow. It’s a westernized, counter-culture reincarnation where you have to live your life over and over again, falling in love with the same person and trying to escape from being controlled by society. Anybody with a brain should realize that no one would want to go through the same torturous experience generation after generation, much less come back as a cow or a cockroach.

Those who see CLOUD ATLAS should be told the Good News that you don’t have to be reincarnated. That, if you accept Jesus Christ, you can be truly free and go to Heaven, get out of the rat race and truly be yourself, the best you that God has created. Now, that truly is Good News! "

just watched this last night.

I didn't read the book, but it was a little tough following the details of the storylines (especially names) when they were jumping back and forth through the stories. I guess it wasn't important in the overall theme of the movie, but there was definitely a lot going on.

I wanted to like it more than I did, and I like movies that make a point. The individual stories were interesting, but I feel like I watched separate short movies spliced together and it seemed they were only loosely tied together.
