I'm not exactly sure why, but this episode felt better than most of the other recent HIMYM episodes. It was far from perfect, but it at least had the feel of some of the older episodes.

This season probably represents the worst sitcom CBS has aired in recent years.

And I'm still grasping for a point to this season. I mean, the show's been going downhill for a couple years now, but it is now so exceptionally bad that I feel like it has to be on purpose. There has to be a reason they're playing it this way, right?

isn't it already scheduled to have another season after this one?

the thing is, i fear that they are no longer on a story arch and will just keep writing shit until one day they are told that the current season will be their last. once they get that news they'll wrap it up in 5 - 6 episodes and that will be that.

i know that isn't entirely correct but since they used to give dates of when milestone events happen, e.g. the goat, and have transitioned to vague statements such as "a little while down the road", they are doing something similar to the above.


actually this suggests otherwise and explains why it looks like the actors don't give a fuck.

I feel like this show has completely jumped the shark.

Why the fuck is Ted obsessed with Lily and Marshall's baby? Does he have some raging estrogen pulsing through his body or something? And Barney is dating a fat chick? WTF is going on.

Maybe these things would be fine if the material was funny but recently it's all just been horrible.

No wonder I stopped tuning in to these the night they actually play.

Last week's episode was exceptionally terrible (probably the worst of the season).
This week's episode was by far the best of the season so far. It had some nice converging story-lines, a nice running theme (Ted lending stuff), and a little classic Barney. I recommend it for anyone sick of the current season.

What did you dislike in this episode? There were two classic Barney moments, random Ted items showing up everywhere, converging storylines, the return of the red boots, etc.

The only bad thing I can think of was the uncomfortable Robin harping on about Barney and Patrice (though I'm still not convinced its not a scam as she suspects).

hate when people say this but Sepinwall nailed it in his review. The Marshall doing stand up felt like it should belong in a Family Guy episode. The Patrice/Robin stuff has always been annoying. Barney being with Patrice period is annoying

I did like the Ted being mad about people borrowing his stuff and all the stuff about his red cowboy boots though.

I do agree that the Marshall standup was completely out of place. I had already completely wiped that scene from my mind. I also already touched on the Robin/Patrice scenario. It does feel like forced character interaction and forced acting.

The Barney/Patrice scenario isn't as bad, though. Its a little out of character, but you really haven't seen much of Patrice together with Barney in these last two episodes. She's maybe had a total 5 minutes screen time with maybe 5-10 lines. She's just referenced more than before. She's certainly not the oddest person Barney's been with and certainly not the longest.

I like the first 30 min. It was like a filler episode back when the whole season was good. Did advance the mother story line but was a little funny. But in a shittastic season meh.


Last 30 sucked. Might have been better if we didn't already know that they were going to get married. (Jumped the shark)
