I mean...he could have typed "anyone had testosterone shots" in google and found a ridiculous amount of more useful information than starting this topic.

But his life revolves around the attention he gets on this site....good or bad. So good job to you guys for making his day eventful.

"Man I give you props for bringing that shit to TWW, knowing the lashing you'd probably get from girly dudes on the internet

I mean I don't think I have a clinical case but I've considered the idea of taking a testosterone supplement. Never would have occured to me in the past but the last couple years that I've been back in school in a difficult degree have completely changed my lifestyle. Where I used to be a regular at the gym, always driven, high level of energy and generally prolific in life, now I'm generally lethargic, have steadily put on weight, and struggle with focus and motivation. It's because I've spent the majority of my life the last couple years bent over books and keyboards or working and have been sleep deprived with zero regularity in eating or exercise, with an enormous amount of unrelenting stress. Hell, I even think Dave Jr. down there has lost some of his pizazz. A general physiological (and possibly to some extent emotional) depression.

I'm back in the gym regularly now but even that doesn't seem to give me the boost it used to. Wondering if some of dat 190% T would help, but I only have a few months left of this hellish lifestyle so I'll probably just see if I can get my shit back in equilibrium naturally before I resort to that.

Anyway, kudos man...keep us updated, I'm definitely curious to see how it effects you"

thanks breh! a paerabol prop means a good bit to me, and I believe it also gives me +3 internet points or so IIRC. I actually used to care a good bit when people talked shit and railed on me on here. but it took me a really long time to realize that that's their issue, not mine. it's become somewhat easier for me to ignore haters in mah old age :3

anyway to jump down to the bottom first, I would say unless you're getting so overly stressed and have extremely low energy that it's almost impossible to function, that I'd just tough it out if it's only 3 more months. but if that is happening, and it's affecting your grades (hopefully it's not) then I guess it's something to consider within the next week or two. I'm sure a doc could do a blood test and get some answers back in as little as a few days, since you're in Raleigh.

and this is stating the obvious, but energy is definitely going to get lower as you get older. perhaps not so drastically for everyone as it did with mine - and presumably yours - but these things happen. lowered metabolism, general lethargy as a result of your body aging and all that jazz. so there's really no shame in getting something like this, I don't think. T is naturally occurring in your body, so it's not like it's extremely unnatural (arguable I suppose but I wouldn't care to argue it) to supplement with injections. and yeah the irregular hours and eating contribute as well, so I'm thinking it might be a great idea to consider, cause everyone I've talked to and read about says it makes a remarkable difference.

LOL @ Dave Jr. actually bobble jr. has not been affected in the slightest for whatever reason, though I'd be willing to be I'm sterile by now - but that doesn't matter when you're forever alone amirite folks!!!

kthx again and I'll keep you guys updated, because I know how much the community here cares about me I'll be sure to make it as public and obnoxious as possible. I think it's gonna be a good thing, and it'll most likely lead me to have more desire to exercise, which will make me drink more water, lose weight, and be generally healthier and happier. (fitter happier?)

plus I'll get mad jacked up and beat EMCE and his gang up B-)

well you know, I like to think that getting direct information from people I actually have formed a relationship with on here - even if the relationship is as loose as the fact that we are both part of the same online community - might be more credible and personal than just googling it. plus they might know how to give me specific help/tips on my particular situation, and perhaps give me some encouragement. and in fact I've gotten a lot of this, and I'm quite thankful for it.

I must give you props though, in the same manner as paerabol gave me. it took a lot of guts to post that the way you did. I'm glad that you're making the TWW community better, one post at a time, by calling me out for getting attention (and not at all trying to get attention from others that dislike me, thus not making your claim that I am trying to get attention a little bit contradictory). perhaps googling "how to be a cocknose online" might actually further enhance your posting abilities, and help add to your arsenal of fine additions to TWW :3

in fact, why don't we just go to google and communicate directly with that, so that we don't even have to get input and ideas from a message board! let's just shut down TWW and be done with it! why don't we just shut down human interaction as well, cause who needs that... right?

I might have mistyped, and if I did I meant to say "once a month." and it's going to be for 10 months. I'm not sure why it's only 10 months. maybe he thinks it will start regulating itself more naturally after that time period. I guess I wasn't very inquisitive about it with him

>what exactly made you decide to get your levels checked..

I didn't decide to directly. I was just telling him that my energy level is generally low, and so he theorized that my T is low, and it turns out he was correct. plus I think he was checking for other stuff as well, so it didn't really hurt for that to be checked as well

So like I don't really know you and it's kinda impossible to know how you feel compared to other people, but I don't know that many people are all jacked up and excited to go to the gym or anything. I know some people are but they're probably not normal the other way. If you can think about it and realize you need to do that shit you just gotta make up your mind and do it.

What was your specific count when they tested you? I just got tested, myself, and ended up being right at the very low end of the "normal" range. The trouble is I've never been tested before now, so I don't know if that means it's a low result for me, or if I've always been on the low side of normal. PM if you prefer, but I'm just curious if maybe you were in a similar boat, and I could still push my doctor to try a low-dosage treatment for a while to see if it helps my energy levels.

Haven't taken them. But I did my research a year ago when I was feeling lethargic and my testosterone levels came in a bit low. Not below the normal threshold, but low enough to concern me.

I posted this on the first page, but you're taking a long-ester test shot which has a half-life measured in weeks. That's why the doc thinks he can give you shots only once a month (a mistake). You won't feel the full effect of the shots until 4-5 weeks in. When they really kick in, you should feel increased sex drive, confidence, energy, etc.

The risk you run is damaging your fertility, and altering your body chemistry to the point where you are completely reliant on these shots. When you take exogenous testosterone supplements, your body shuts down the testes as a reaction. This shutdown will occur within 2-3 months of being on the shots. Within 6 months of beginning testosterone replacement therapy, your sperm count is likely to be zero. The testes can be restarted, but it's a pain in the ass. There is a way to get around this. It's by supplementing your Test Cyp shots with low-dose shots of Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG), which is an agonist for Lutenizing Hormone (LH) which regulates testicular function. When you are taking testosterone shots, your hypothalamus stops releasing LH, so you need something to replace it. HCG is difficult to acquire and not typically included with normal testosterone replacement therapy regimens unless the patient is actively trying to have a child. However, if you shut down your testes for a period of months or years, they may never return to full function.

You need to do some research on a board dedicated to hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Tens of thousands of men over 35 get testosterone replacement therapy, and they get very scientific about it. I'll tell you from the get-go that they will recommend that you get bi-weekly or weekly shots instead of monthly, and that you should use an aromatase inhibitor such as arimidex to prevent the conversion of excess testosterone into estrogen, which could possibly result in bitch tits. As mentioned above, you should also look into HCG if you want to have kids down the line.

Why shots? Why not Androgel?

Also, was it only one blood test? Testosterone can fluctuate throughout the day. Generally it takes a few blood tests over a period of time to confirm low T. That and insurance will generally require it to cover any medications.

I forgot what the numbers mean exactly, but I remember that the minimum normal range was about 250 (whatever unit - I also might have that wrong) and mine was about 140 I think

I don't see why your doc would have a problem with prescribing a low dose of it for you; I'd definitely try that. and <3 u. I still owe you a surprise for helping me out with the blue wii. I haven't forgotten; I'm just lazy :3

are you sure that's what I'm taking? I imagine you're correct, and I guess I could find out easily enough if it's listed on the prescription. why does it take so long? shouldn't it only take like 2-3 weeks, or is it dependent on the 2nd shot? I did a minor bit of research online but I get distracted easily, and also didn't particularly want to get any bad ideas (because we all know that people suck on the internet most of the time) I put more faith in your opinions on here - at least those of you who have answered seriously. I look forward to increased energy and confidence - my sex drive seems to be fine, but anyway

Quote :

hmm, well I didn't discuss it in-depth with my doctor. I'm not great at thinking about questions on the spot - but I'll try to bring some of these issues up next time. the reliance on the shots would be bad I guess, or at least a hassle; I just assumed that since he was putting me on a 10-month regimen, that he thought it would start regulating itself better after that time? I might have assumed wrong.

as long as I can still whack off every now and again, I'm fine with this

you may not know off the top of your head, but what would your guess be of the likelihood of that? like, 40%? higher or lower? to be honest, and it should come as no surprise, I don't have any plans to get married or ever have kids. in the off-chance that I ever find a woman, I'd say it's about a 50% likelihood or less that I'll want to have kids. and again, this isn't likely so, as long as it doesn't cause me physical pain, I'm generally fine with the idea of them not returning to full function

I've read in several places that people start feeling a slight crash after 2 weeks, and a bigger one at 3 weeks. I remember reading that most people get them at 2-3 weeks. it seems like a pain in the ass to do it so frequently, but I guess I'll just deal with it. what's the aromatase inhibitor? a pill or another shot?

I'm assuming that my doctor is at least semi-confident that this will work for me, and he has my best interest at heart so I guess he wouldn't steer me wrong. I'll note all this and discuss it with him at my next appointment. thanks for the information breh

my doc didn't even suggest this, and I've read that the shots work better, so unless you have a strong argument for the gel over the shots, then I'll just stick with these - especially since I've already paid for them

well I didn't know about that. I could get him to check my blood again in a month and see what the results are.

I've had chronic fatigue, at times quite severe but always life-disrupting, since March 2012; doctors have done a lot of tests of various things that have all come back normal--until now. I was tested for low testosterone back when I first posted in this thread, and was on the low end of the normal range (~300). Turns out that's still low for a typical man my age.

The doctor wanted to retest it since the first blood draw was taken in the afternoon, and she said that typically your levels are highest in the morning when you wake up. This time, the test was done about an hour earlier, and the results came back way lower (~150). The normal range bottoms out around 250, so it seems I'm definitely out of whack and will need some kind of meds for it.

I'm really hopeful that this is the root cause of my fatigue and hormone replacement therapy will help me, since everything else seems to be working properly. In 2011, I ran my first marathon, rode a 100-mile bike race and was generally in the best shape I'd been in since high school. I was making real progress in the weight room for the first time in my life when my fatigue struck, and I feel like it robbed me of my 2012 in a lot of ways. I want to get back on track and hope that this will be a solution.

How has it worked out for you, BubBob?

I can't speak highly of it, but I also can't talk it down, either

it seems to give me the physical energy I need, but it seems to only be sometimes

maybe it has to do with the dosage or something, or it hasn't fully kicked in for me - or maybe it's because my sleep schedule is shitty that it doesn't work 100% effectively

I think it also sometimes makes me irritable and/or testy a lot of the time, so I find myself having to have some restraint. but honestly that could be part of my personality to begin with

I've heard a lot of success stories with it, and of course, like anything it affects everyone differently. it's definitely worth a shot, I would say. but for me, personally, I haven't noticed a huge benefit and that really sucks :3 I'm hoping this will change with a couple more shots. I've increased it to every 2 weeks now and I think I've only had 5 or 6 so far. it seems really like there's just a little more pep in my step but not nearly the amount I had hoped. maybe my level was way lower on average, though
