Depends how much you like to have service.
If you rarely go in to rural areas its probably fine, just do not go on a road trip anywhere and expect to use your phone. 4/25/2013 9:54:05 PM |

i recently saw them advertised...i wonder if ST quit carrying AT&T SIMs because net10 became AT&T's "official" MVNO...

It all seems too good to be true and slightly sketchy. Also they point out its not unlimited data it's 1.5mb for an ATT sim and no way to get more data until the next cycle. The website might as well have a "win a free ipad for participating in a survey on mortgages" http://www.net10wireless.com/#/plans/family. But, as i posted in the Verizon thread, the nexus is a draw for me and the plans are a bonus. I think that's why it was easier to ignore these plans before due to the lack of unlocked devices. The Nexus doesn't have an fully functional LTE radio but i read HSPA+ in most areas is fast enough to browse and stream some stuff. 4/26/2013 12:54:58 PM |

sorry, I meant to say "a few days or so" Last month I used 17GB.
Never been throttled (on vzw; but am looking to switch if I lose my unlimited data).

Hspa+ has worked fine for me, especially since I had Verizon LTE, but I rarely got 4g service. Definitely works great with 2gigs of ram. Plus the better battery life I'd great.4/27/2013 5:02:24 PM |

I love straight talk I buy the cheapest possible ($40) because I really only care about using phones for calling and texting. I get the plan with 1000 minutes and 1000 texts (it comes with data but I forget how much). I pay $32 a month after taxes....I have never gone over 1000 minutes or 1000 texts yet, even if I did it would just make the month cycle over a little sooner to get it all refilled. I have had Nextel/sprint in the past and the coverage seems to be better. I do the month by month pay plan but it is drafted automatically from my bank account so I never have to deal with any billing stuff. 6/25/2013 6:57:03 PM |

AT&T SIM supporting 4G LTE is now $12 ($7 + $5 shipping if not bundling with a plan): http://www.straighttalkbyop.com/
can't decide if i should pick one up, even though i'm not sure whether i'll wait for RW to come out with new phones or just pick up a decent phone from CL and go with ST's $45 unlimited plan...
if the latter, suggestions on a decent AT&T-compatible 4G phone to look for? i'm tired of paying $80/month to VZW 9/13/2013 9:20:04 AM |

Nexus 4 does not use LTE, it is 4g capable... But that's if you count hspa+ as 4g... Just wanted to clarify that from above. 9/13/2013 2:32:49 PM |

Anyone having trouble ordering one? I am getting an error with my city/state/zip code verification. I want to get one just to have.
Anyways, I think the nexus 4 is the best deal you can get right now on ST. Unless you want to wait until the next nexus, which hopefully will support lte. 9/13/2013 5:56:41 PM |

So I am considering making the switch since ST has ATT sims available currently. I think I am going to buy 2 sims today (one for me and one for my wife) regardless while we decide what we want to do. We are currently on a super cheap verizon unlimited plan, but her phone is dying and mine - while operable - is over 3 years old. So, all signs are pointing to new phones for both of us soon which is always a good time to re-evaluate.
Having never used Straight Talk, are there any limitations to the ATT network access via this sim and ST versus simply being an ATT customer? I was planning to buy out-of-contract phones to keep our Verizon unlimited, but with ATT on ST I'm considering a switch...
Also, do nearly all phones use micro sims these days? Or should I buy the regular sim just to be safe (since we don't know what phones we would get yet if we switch to ST) and then I always have the option to cut it down if I need?

i've been with ST for less than a month, but i have nothing to complain about specific to ST...GSM doesn't penetrate buildings as well as CDMA, but that's the only major difference i've noticed (and i went from a 4G LTE VZW phone to an AT&T HSPA+, which is supposedly slower)
i'd say the biggest disadvantage is virtually non-existent customer and tech support, with the exception of number porting and purchasing more airtime...but i never called verizon, either, so hopefully it won't matter
the second biggest disadvantage is the rumored data cutoffs and potential for ST to close your account - without notifying you - for using too much data...not sure how often that happens, or if it actually happens, but that's the rumor
the third disadvantage (or so i've read) is that MVNO customers don't get access to the network as quickly as "real" customers in the case of an outage (ie. second-tier service for second-tier customers)
outside of those things, you SHOULDN'T see any limitations in service during day-to-day use
and yeah, i think nano sims are in most of the newer phones, though my N4 uses a micro...i don't know about full-sized sims being cut to nano, but micros definitely can...and they sell adapters that let you use a nano in a micro device 10/1/2013 8:31:11 AM |

thanks for all the input.
Looks like I might actually be better going with the Micro. I just looked at a few phones we could consider getting if we made the switch and it seems like they all at least use a micro.
As far as the data. I typically use 2-2.5 GB when I looked at my past few months' worth of usage and I've been traveling a lot so I feel like I am using more than normal so I feel pretty comfortable their limits wouldn't affect me.

I went ahead and ordered 2 ATT compatible micro sims for $15 total from Walmart. No one has the "nano" sims for ST that I saw and I glanced at a few phones and the seem to use the micro. If we don't end up using them, oh well - I could probably resell them.
I know the Nexus 5 may have a nano, so hopefully the one coming from Walmart is a true micro and not a standard cut down to a micro though (that thought just crossed my mind knowing Walmart).
