Imma hijack this thread. Recommendations for a small SUV <$10,000. Daily driver; no towing, etc., just need more room, something to haul the dogs in, and the lady just wants a SUV. 8/19/2013 2:01:12 PM |

ford escape; pick your options, yada, dada. Had a friend who bought an 05 used, low miles, 4cyl, fwd 5-speed. Ultra reliable, rode fine, decent room, and averaged 26-28mpg with his driving.8/19/2013 3:00:49 PM |

4thed. I've known a number of people who have been very happy with the Escape.
Also I know several very happy CR-V owners, but the older ones are kind of small even as small SUV's go. Don't know how the interior volume compares with an Escape but they feel smaller.
You could look into the Xterra as well. Yes, I know, NMSJ, but the majority of Xterra owners I've had contact with (and I've had a close friend, 2 co-workers, and a number of acquaintances with them) seem to think pretty highly of them. Gas mileage will be lackluster (3.5 VQ engine I think) but it actually has off-road availability should you ever need it. 8/20/2013 11:34:58 AM |
