THIS DOESN'T REALLY HAVE TO DO WITH DOWNTON ABBEY so no spoilers but

I've been thinking about reading one of Ken Follett's new books, Fall of Giants: Book One of the Century Trilogy. Since I have a long car drive coming up I thought listening to the audiobook would be fun. I looked it up and Dan Stevens is the narrator (the guy who played Matthew on Downton Abbey) so yay I now have 12 hrs of listening to Dan Stevens.

In case anyone is interested, here is the synopsis:

I have no idea because I don't really read news about it for spoilage reasons. My tepid anger has still not been assuaged. They could have written a better exit for him that didn't include a horrific and untimely death.

Meh. I guess they didn't have many options. At least he got to see his child.

there was no way to have him off of the show (for good) without killing him

none of us would've accepted it if he had cheated on Mary or left her

this way it's a cleaner break without any messy storylines that leave him still wandering around

Yeah, after thinking about it more, it was probably the ideal scenario. It was just too much to take in at first. I'm emotionally invested in this show like I never have been in a show before.

watched this series late last year. far too short. hoping the movie lives up to the standard.

Upstairs Downstairs is the obvious start, Grand Hotel if you are okay with subtitles, Mr. Selfridge if you like Jeremy Piven (i don't so I didn't like it but my wife did), A Place to Call Home, Poldark, The Durrels in Corfu, The Last Czars isn't as good as any of the others but if you are interested in the Russian Czars at all it's not bad
