I heard the last book is going to be two movies, each coming out over the next two thanksgivings. The last book was my least favorite so I was really hoping it would just be one movie.

To me the reason the last book was the worst was due to her cramming too much shit into it and having to gloss over some pretty major events, so I actually think splitting it into two movies will give them a chance to redeem some of those issues

Enjoyed Catching Fire. In Hunger Games I did not like Peeta at first, but I realized he is playing the "game' to the best of his ability, and it really shined through in Catching Fire.

Have to say I thoroughly enjoyed both movies.

I think you could compare this ending to the Empire Strikes Back (although a completely different tier of story and movie). Ending with one main character physically damaged, another taken prisoner, a big revelation*, and a very clear "tune in next week year" final scene. It took Return of the Jedi 3 years to come out, so it's not such a big deal to wait 2 years for 2 movies.

*Speaking of revelation, what I didn't like about the movie was the lack of District 13 forshadows. It was mentioned twice, and we don't see the part where Katniss and Gale run into the rebels heading for D13.

Also missing was the study session when Katniss and Peeta look back at videos of the other victor's games. I was very much looking forward to the reveal of how Haymitch won his year, as it's an important piece of his character.

yea coming back to the discussion a month later, FOTR ends right in the middle of a battle with everyone getting separated, not much more a wrap up than this where they escape the arena.

As for Two Towers, the movie makers cut it off early to avoid the cliffhanger that Tolkien left in the book.
