^^^You do realize that one of the turnovers in the last minute was a lazy pass from Purvis trying to get it back to Lewis and the other was Warren panicking when he saw a trap coming right? We all get that you don't like Lewis but you can't really put either of those on him. 2/3/2013 5:07:21 PM |

Completely wrong? The guy has been awful this year and i called it.
he played pretty well yesterday but we're still not a very good team with him on the floor.
The PG should be handling the ball at the end. He didn't do a good job getting the ball and sealing the win. He almost got pickpocketed the time he brought it down the court too.
He should have had the ball and been shooting FT's. Not leslie, purvis, or warren obviously. 2/3/2013 5:47:55 PM |

anybody hating on Lewis after going 4-8 from the field, 8-9 from the line for 16 points, 5 assists, 1 turnover, 2 rebounds, 0 fouls after being thrust into the starting role as a freshman with not even 200 minutes of game time is either dumb and/or just a hater 2/4/2013 12:05:59 AM |

I thought Tyler was the man last night, and played awesome given the circumstances. As the game went on, you could tell that he was getting more comfortable. Favorite shot of his was the one he threw up, hit the top of the glass and fell in.
I feel a lot better about next year having seen him play a full game. 2/4/2013 12:18:47 AM |

I definitely don't agree with that...but they are different players.
We're a high-speed locomotive on the break with Brown...not so much with Lewis, but I do think he runs the half-court offense a little more efficiently. Brown obviously better at creating his own shot in the half-court, but I think Lewis gets the ball to the right players, at the right time, and in the right position just a little better than Brown. I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that he's been playing point guard his entire life while Brown has only been doing it for the past three years.
When our fast break offense has been shut down this year, we struggle to score 60. Miami shut it down on Saturday...and we almost scored 80. I just think it shows that Tyler needs to be utilized a little bit more from here on out. 2/7/2013 7:57:40 AM |

Lewis is an excellent ball handler with very low turnover rate, even when comparing against senior PGs. Since our team has the advantage of every player having the ability to score, he may appear to be a better point than Brown. The truth is, he's not a better PG, he's a different kind of PG. I like to refer to Lewis as a Pure point, where Brown is a well-rounded PG with the ability to slash, hit the 3, and play like a seasoned 2 guard. Honestly, we would be better off with Brown and Lewis on the court at the same time as a rotation strategy where we can rest CJL/Howell and manage foul trouble, and Brown as a 2 guard can slash and score, and/or kick out. What I'm saying is, we will win more games if when we have a lead, we put Lewis in to manage the half court, slow things down, and control turnovers....

If Lewis plays well tonight (even if we lose), I will be pretty hopeful; as it'll mean a real 7 man rotation down the stretch when LoBo gets back. Hell if we get in foul trouble, we could go small in future games and let Brown, Purvis, and Lewis all play and have Brown guard the other team's small forward. Honestly Brown could probably do as well as Wood. 2/7/2013 11:36:18 AM |

Do you like Huey Lewis and The News?
Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.
In '87, Huey released this, Fore, their most accomplished album. I think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. But they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself.

I believe Tyler is the type of player that needs to get the flow of the game to be himself. If he comes in and plays spot duty, I don't think he'll be anywhere near as good.
His line against the two best teams in the ACC:
14.5 pts, 5.5 assists, 2 rebounds....8-16 shooting and 13-14 from the free throw line.
Offensively, this team is better in the half court with Lewis at point. The man knows how to run an offense. However, Brown is the best PG in the league right now. Lewis is giving us the luxury to rest him up and get him back to 100% though. Even with Brown, I don't think we do a whole lot better in the last two games. UVA is the only game I think we win if we have him.

uh no. and i like lewis. just not this year he gets rag dolled too much on defense, shoots jumpers he can't hit, and can't get enough going on offense to prevent us from breaking down into 1 on 1 basketball.
He'll be pretty good by his junior year. He's started to really cut back on his turnovers and he's great at drawing fouls. Just needs to become an adequate defender and add a decent jump shot. 2/7/2013 11:28:41 PM |

I think one of the problems early in the season was that when he was in the game he was the only guard on the floor and usually Vandy was also in. I don't know if Gott was trying to force him to make the play and not rely on Brown or Purvis or if he was just trying to steal minutes all at one time.2/8/2013 12:50:32 AM |

I would say his defense is a deficiency if not for everyone else on the team completely blowing on D as well. Yeah...Cook hit a lot of threes in the first half, but it's not like they were directly on Tyler. Most of them came because he was rotating to someone else's man. IMO, he does a more than adequate job of staying on his man and making the right plays on defense.
On offense...well we did score 85 with only getting peanuts on the fast break. He knows how to run a team and he can actually create his own shot...whodathunk?? And the free throws are invaluable...we haven't had a point guard we could count on to make free throws since Archie Miller. 2/8/2013 6:31:24 AM |

PROUD and impressed. This dude carries himself well, and has shown a ton of potential being thrust into the starting rotation. I am hopeful his tenacity will rub off on the other guys, who sometimes REALLY need motivation to play the whole game (but that is a completely separate issue). Lewis is part of the solution, and this experience should pay dividends come tourney time...
