I don't own a jersey yet but I hope to slide right into that "middle aged/overweight white guy" demo and the jersey is step one.

I think professional sporting events are an exception or meeting with your fantasy football league every Sunday during the season.

It's generally colder in hockey arenas so if you are gonna wear something warm with long sleeves it might as well be a jersey with your team's logo on it.

I don't own any jerseys and I too think it is pretty lame to see other self respecting men wearing jerseys. Women wearing the jerseys is fine in my book and I am all about wearing some NC State or Atlanta Braves gear, just not jerseys.

I guess I can't resist the temptation anymore so I'm going to go ahead and bite on the "jerseys aren't manly" bit.

At what point is the line drawn? From what I can deduce, it is perfectly acceptable to:

1) Spend time watching young athletes compete
2) Actively cheer for an athlete or team that you identify with for whatever reason
3) Discuss said athletes on Internet message boards, around the water cooler at work, etc
4) Pay money (sometimes a lot of money) to attend these events in person
5) Cheer for the athletes while at the event

But, if you are wearing a jersey to visibly display your support for the athletes, at this point the line is crossed? Now, you are a loser? It's like some kind of sports hipsterism. You can cheer for the team, man, but what are you thinking wearing the merchandise? And I'm really not sure to do with this repeated notion that it's okay for women, but not for men cause you gotta look SO TUFF.

The idiots saying grown men shouldn't wear jerseys to games are the probably that same joke wearing a polo shirt and some dockers to the game.

I wear jerseys to to all Mariners games, Seahawks games, and Husky games I attend. I went to Hurricane games when I was still in NC, but hockey jerseys are too god damn expensive and this was before I found out about counterfeit jerseys.

I wear them to any Sunday I am at the bar because I couldn't afford the extremely marked up tickets to Seahawks games. My two "game" jerseys are Russell Wilson and RGIII.

To say jerseys shouldn't be worn by guys makes me question the ones who say "I don't wear a jersey" when I would say a good % of fans do on game day.

A grown man wearing a jersey to a game is no sillier than a grown man spending two tanks worth of gas money to see other grown men play ball.

Jerseys look silly on people who aren't professional athletes. It looks like you're wearing a blanket. Find a t-shirt that fits...this isn't Halloween.

You dont have to wear a jersey that is 3xl, the couple jerseys i have are the same size/length (or slightly bigger) as a polo shirt

I do understand what you are saying though, i see some people wearing them looking like they are wearing a jersey/night gown

Wearing a baseball jersey that actually fits, especially a throwback from the double-knit era (that doesn't have buttons) is no different than wearing a t-shirt.

But I guess this is what you people want (only add a stupid hat and croakies):

Hey, look!

People that don't wear jerseys, don't think people should wear jerseys. And people that do, think it's perfectly fine.

Amazing!

just don't be the guy who wears a jersey of a team that's not even playing. can't stand the people walking around BoA stadium any given sunday with a cowboys or redskins jersey.

it's like the opposite of the rule for concerts.

I own one jersey, an authentic Rivers NCSU item from 2004. (Or as authentic as you could get at the time, I bought it at the bookstore and it's by Nike, I think it cost something like $75). Think I've worn it twice, haven't ever had to run it through the wash--one day when I have an actual Man Room it will be part of the decor.

As far as people that wear them frequently, it's just not my thing. They look odd on most guys who aren't built like an athlete so I'd rather just wear a logo T-shirt/hoodie/polo. But if you want to wear it to the game or to the bar on game day I think that's perfectly acceptable.

If you're a grown man wearing a jersey, it's not game day, and you're not on the team, *that* is when a line has been crossed.

The sizes are a bit wierd for jerseys as they seem to be orientated towards the "I want to wear mine 4 sizes too big" people.

I personally like to wear mine tight if possible, aka I am between a Kids XL and adult M. Small would work if they actually put those in stores or online or anywhere.

Counterfeits seem to be the only place I can find a Men's small where I do not look like I am a dying cancer patient in my jersey.

i like people who waste money on "authentic" football jerseys when the $250 thing they just bought is nothing like the actual jersey players wear on the field. i.e. on field jerseys are pretty much all stretch fabric now which look like kid sized things when those 300 lb guys take them off.

While you're not wrong about "authentic" jerseys, it also stands that the jersey any given player wears is unlikely to be anything like that of another player on the same team.

The level of individual customization in sports uniforms is pretty insane.

the only difference in most 'authentic' NBA jerseys and the ones the players wear are the ones the players wear have an extra +3 or +4 inches of length

I have a game worn cortez kennedy jersey from back in the day that i will not and could not wear. It is the size of 2 normal jerseys put together. The only difference i can tell between actual NFL game worn and consumer authentic is that there is additional space for pads built in. Though its difficult to speculate because Kennedy was over 300lbs

You're not going to wear pads under the authentic jersey. Its not made for pads. no way.

I got a Russell Wilson Nike Seahawks jersey from china for 25 bucks. It looks good, but when you looks at the details you can clearly tell.

The Seahawks on the shoulder is sown over so you only see half. Saved 100 bucks tho
