Absolutely nothing. That's a choice the engineer made during the design process based on several factors, sometimes including the builders material preferences.

that's a heck of a span and I assume will have a decent load on it. Would much rather have a steel beam.

Nothing's wrong with a steel beam, they can just be pricy. Most builders would prefer LVLs over steel.

Lol, I'm sure it is. Engineering Tech is good, they are one of my company's competition, but I know they do good work

i feel you. wettest summer I can remember in a long time. At least 95% of the items on my project at work is indoors. If we weren't re-using an existing structure we would have had a lot of setbacks this spring/summer.

Not really. I'll take some tomorrow. The problem with being a builder and building your personal home is that paying work often gets in the way especially when you are a "hands On" type GC.

Cabinets started today. Tile is done in 2 of 3 baths. Granite for a week from Wednesday. Painter will start next week. Stairs and trim ongoing.

The panels are a foam, engineered wood, and vapor/air barrier panels that are then taped together.

ZIP R-Sheathing is one of the brands.

I'm home today moving furniture around because we sold our dining table and I have to build a new one. Also keep in mind we have a 2.5 year old and a newborn so things are a little messy. My wife would kill me if she knew I posted these
