Most mocks seeing Cyprien or Woods. I'd rather have Cyprien than any WR we'd look at.

I've heard good things about Woods, but the Panthers haven't had the most luck picking USC WR's. (see: Colbert & Jarrett)

What about Keenan Allen from Cal? Hunter from UT? Still several good WRs out there.

I'd like Allen

but I'd probably prefer a defensive back

like Amerson

My 2nd rounder would be:

Cyprien
Taylor
Swearinger
Woods

in that order

maybe if Geno is on the board when our pick is up, we can trade down and pick up a 3rd rounder

i'd rather have allen. hunter is big and fast, but he drops a lot of balls. but with so many other holes to fill its hard to see them taking a WR in the 2nd round.

i think if cyprien is there they have to take him. could definitely see them taking the best available O-Lineman, too. this draft is deep on that front and they could still get a guy who could come in and help keep newton off the ground in round 2.

What about Mathieu? He's probably the most talented DB left on the board and only fell because of "character issues". Dude just smoked a ton of pot in college, big fucking deal, who didn't? He could fill in immediately at CB or free safety for us. His girlfriend is also hot as fuck.

i wouldn't be in favor of wasting a 2nd round pick on a 5'9" nickel back

maybe a pick on saturday

Only a one year deal though, and he's never been better than average.

From the films I've seen, Cyprien is gonna be a beast. He's the guy I want the most.

If not, I'd look at some of the WRs. Keenan Allen is still the man, even if he ran poorly and may-or-may-not be a pot head. But Justin Hunter has awesome potential and Robert Woods is as consistent as they get. Either one would become our #2 guy in a year -- if not right away.

If I were a Panthers fan, I'd be hoping to land Cyprien in the 2nd & then pray one of the high upside TEs (Escobar, Reed or Kelce) slips to them in the 4th (or to even trade back into the 3rd for one once two of them get taken)

I wouldn't be in favor of trading future picks to get back in the 3rd round.

Let's just take our medicine this year and have our full compliment of picks moving forward.

Wow, BPA I guess. We should have a pretty stout rotation on the D-line.

Here's to hoping they go with a S, CB, WR, or offensive lineman with their day 3 picks. I wouldn't even mind a decent kicker. Really sucks that Tampa Bay took Jonathan Banks the pick RIGHT before us in the 2nd. Damn Bucs

^^^ Damn, I was about to post the exact same thing. Rivera's defense is gonna resemble the Lions' D if they only focus on the front 7 and keep ignoring the secondary.

I will say that the Seahawks have had a lot of success with this route, but they lucked out with Sherman and Browner. Maybe the Panthers just need to find a couple younger CBs and pump them full of PEDs.

one of the undrafted free agents we invited in is a 6'7" tight end from Rice who is also a punter

i was fine with the DT picks because the panthers dt depth chart was probably worse than nc states and short is a pass rusher anyway but the white linebacker and 4th rb were pretty unnecessary

that was kind of my way of thinking, then i figured Beason and TD aren't gonna play forever and could easily get hurt, and the RB is basically a returner

you know who else has had success with it? The Giants.

A great front 7 makes a bad secondary look good.

I thought Gettleman did an outstanding job this first draft with only five picks.

The one thing said about Star when he was drafted is that he may not be able to play in the 3rd down sub package, so we go get Short who can come in and rush the passer on 3rd as well as provide quality depth for either spot.

That guard is huge and looks like great run blocker and we had to have somebody to push Hangartner after last season.

Klein was co-Big XII defensive player of the year the same year as Alexander, and a 3 year starter for ISU. Our starters are really good, but TD is getting up there and injury prone as well as Beason coming off an injury and likely a cap casualty after this season. It's good to get him in now so he can basically get redshirt and learn from those guys.

And finally I think Barner was stroke of genius. 34 is gone after this season and he will upgrade our special teams from day one. Two between Armanti/Adams/Pilares are camp cuts this year imo. He is also familiar with that read option type of spread look we give and can contribute spot plays on offense. Imagine Barner, Tolbert, and Cam all in the backfield inside the 10. Defenses would have no clue as to what we are about to do.

I give it a solid B

My guess would be that Edwards gets cut and barner and Adams get all the return opportunities. I think ginn is going to get every chance to be an every down offensive player.

This pick pretty much shows that the staff is done with the armanti experiment.

Agree that this was a good draft . I think we are two years away from having a pretty good roster. I wish wed take all the cap hits this year to undo the hurney blood bath but it looks like the plan is to try to be competitive this year and take the hits next year when it all falls apart this season
