I'm sure he'd end up being dirty if this was a conventional season of 24, but with them only doing 12 episodes I think it's reasonable for his motives just to be keeping Jack away from Audrey and keeping the President's illness a secret.

I disagree. You don't cast someone like Tate Donovan in that role and have him play it straight. He's one of the top "ulterior motive guy" character actors in TV.

Really have enjoyed this season. The 24 episode format worked fine for the first 5 seasons - although there were the random plot lines they felt obligated to keep giving to characters away from the action (Kim & the cougar) - but the format ran the show into the same plot lines too often. The 12 episode format has kept it much more streamlined.

Wish they'd tried something a little different this season rather than the same one bad guy leads to another which leads to the one behind everything, but it was all done well in typical 24 type fashion. Overall was better than season 6 (pretty much a given) and season 7/8 IMO. Didn't touch on seasons 1-5 when everything was still pretty new/fresh.

If they bring it back for a 10th I'd like to see something related to breaking Jack out of the Russian's custody in Moscow - wish that was how Season 6 had gone with the Chinese instead of what we got.
