Ribs is pretty spot on here. Phil still has an enormous reputation as a choker, especially to the casual fan. Of course, it's not what it used to be. 6/17/2013 10:16:31 AM |

Norman is known as a choker because he lost a 6 shot lead going into the final round to lose The Masters to Faldo.
Phil has just "not won" a US Open. You could argue choke job, and I wouldn't blame you, but comparing him as a choke artist to Norman is absurd.
Norman also has half the majors Phil does. 6/17/2013 11:53:53 AM |

it was brought up plenty during the weekend, but the absolute adoration for Phil is a bit absurd
don't get me wrong, I like the guy, but people have a need to come up with an excuse for whenever he loses 6/17/2013 12:21:00 PM |

6 people broke par on Sunday...it's not like Phil played horrible...he made mistakes and Rose capitalized on it. Rose has been a guy that has been close to winning a major and has been one of best players on planet in the last 4 years, and better than Phil for sure. IMO Mickelson should have just hit 3 iron off the tee all day, but again his driving hurt him.
Rose played great all week and definitely deserved to win. 6/17/2013 12:48:31 PM |

Phil always "makes mistakes" on Sunday at the Open. This is the definition of choking.
It's not like this is some isolated incident. At this point it has become a pattern of behavior to have the lead on the back nine on Sunday and lose in dramatic fashion.6/17/2013 3:03:19 PM |
