Quote :
"I just tried a Penske quote for my move. For the same truck and car trailer, Penske wants $500 more than I'll be paying with Uhaul, though they give me unlimited miles. Uhaul provided about 50 miles more than the direct trip, which should meet my requirements nicely."

Yeah strange. Every quote I get from Budget and Penske is always much lower than Uhaul. Both Budget and Penske were around $806-850 for a 16' truck with unlimited miles for 6 days. Uhaul was $1176 (no insurance applied yet).

Just from reading reviews I've heard to steer clear of Uhaul because of quality and the way they treat their customers. Doesn't mean people can't have good experiences with them though.

^^Exactly my thoughts. I'm looking forward to it.

Phase one of my overseas move completed today. The movers came and picked up my air freight allotment. Thank god the employer is picking up the tab for this.

Yeah I wouldn't move unless they were paying for it.

So it's our second week here. Looking back I think we made the right decision doing the entire move ourselves. It was a pretty easy process, we didn't break a single thing, and driving a truck across country with my car behind it was fairly easy. We even averaged ~10mpg the whole time which I did not expect. Glad I saved the extra $1000-2000 doing it myself.

I can't wait!! I'm like counting the days. Just picked up my first pair of ski boots and a Thule cargo box for the car. Already picked up a ski pass and planning on doing a couple snowshoe/hut trips.

I've been commuting here since February for work and the best weeks were always when it snowed.

Where are you working? I used to commute out there a lot. It's a great area.

My company is near Colorado and 25. It's a small software firm based on Atlanta but the majority of the company is here and I was just working on a specific client on site in Charlotte. Now I get to dress casual instead of wearing a suit every day.
