"So you don't fundamentally believe that men and women should have equal rights?

Because that's all feminism is."

That's called humanism and I'll happily subscribe to it.

I'll admit there are a number of egalitarian feminists who could describe their ideology this way, but large swaths of feminism in both rank-and-file and academia are gender feminists who coach every societal problem as the oppression of women. They parrot statistics and claims which have no basis in fact and serve only to further a narrative of victimization that in my opinion is offensive to women and to reason.

from my experience feminists feel that women should have more rights than men (even if that's not what they are consciously arguing)

I guarantee you that most just see "rights" as currently imbalanced toward men, so fighting for more "rights" is just trying to bring it into balance. They are the oppressed that need to be saved.

I don't feel that way, and I personally don't know many feminists who do

What do you mean by "even if that's not what they are consciously arguing"?

Are you under some impression that women are incapable of consciously knowing what their side of an argument is?

If I accept that position, then feminism is pretty well an abject failure in the US.

Equating pro-life with opposition to women's rights has quite a lot of issues with it. Even from a philosophical standpoint you have a pretty big issue. Have we not learned anything from the abortion threads? There's no way to argue with someone who is going to maintain that abortion of murder. The real problem for liberals is, they can hold that position divorced from women's rights.

Maybe for you the issue is about bodily autonomy, but the issue for them is that abortion is murder. Is this just willful ignorance of what the other side is saying? The fact that you want to focus on the bodily autonomy issue doesn't change anything about their claim that abortion is murder.
