^^Hahaha on the Pam Anderson thing, but yea mom has the diagnosed shit.
The wife is taking classes online. And we go to church. In fact we just recently started going to a new one (kinda megachurch, Newhope), and plan to join a small group when they do them again. They run on a semester basis, sorta, so they will start them up in January.
She has a hard time making friends which didn't help that her mom is a super isolated person herself, so growing up she had almost no "girl" friends. When we moved I had friends in the Triangle already and made new friends at work, in Scouts, and I'm more outgoing in general. She hasn't been able to find a job, hence going back to school, but she doesn't have/take the opportunities to make friends.
And please don't feel bad about me or our relationship. After 11 years, that isn't an issue. When she's feeling good she's great. She is a fantastic cook, volunteers in the kids classes regularly, is quite thrifty for a woman so she isn't just home spending my money (hah, I'm a state employee), and we have a lot of similar interests and we work well together. I think she's just down because she has not had much luck finding a job, making friends, etc. I've been trying to explain to her that shit doesn't just fall in your lap. But its hard to force somebody that is such an introvert to come out of their shell and make them be social, which would give her some motivation to do more shit. She did a job shadow last week and applied for a position at the clinic, so that might work out, even if its pretty entry level. I'm just on here venting about her "being sick" with nothing concrete ever diagnosed. She does like others says and WebMDs and decides she has a gall bladder problem, or her thryoid is acting up, or a chemical imbalance or some shit and nothing ever pans out on it.

This is the worst part:
Quote : | "dinner (can of green beans in a pot, garlic bread from a box, and heating up leftover store bought lasagna)" |
That sucks!
Does she have a degree? In what? Whether she does or not, ask her to do some courses on http://www.coursera.org and http://www.edx.org and tell her you will be following up on her progress and stuff. They have all sorts of courses available in all fields, and they are taught by professors from MIT, Princeton, Stanford, etc. best part, they are free. Even better, there is a "signature track" in some courses for $50 where they verify your identity and give you a proper certificate at the end.
P.S. just saw she is taking classes. That's great. What is she studying to be?

She's got an Associates in Business, but she is attending only from Central Carolina Community College for an Associates in Science and then move on to a bachelors program. Her ideal job would be working in a lab type setting or being a High school science teacher. 11/13/2013 9:24:29 PM |

Yea I don't want to get my ass kicked.
Again I am concerned about her. I just don't know if it's a mental thing or something real that has so far gone undiagnosed. She does not claim to have fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue syndrome. I just want her to have energy again and make herself do stuff. Hard enough to motivate yourself sometimes, but I don't want to have to do that for BOTH of us. 11/13/2013 9:38:37 PM |

Fibromyalgia, which is a catch-all imo

I have a real world experience with this.
For the last year or so I have been trying to get my mother in law to go up to the Verizon store with me to get her fucking phone off my plan. Whenever I bring it up she says she is sick, has a headache, is nauseous, or tired and wants to go home. This happens even if she was talking loudly and energetically and acting fine right before that. This happens with no warning even if she has been out shopping all day at a shopping center that has a fucking Verizon corporate store in it.
I have encouraged her to see a doctor about it but no luck yet. . . . 12/2/2014 12:02:18 PM |

My Mom has legit fibro diagnosis, but I rarely, if ever, hear her complain. The only time I even know something's going on is when I call and she's all "I'm on my way to physical therapy" or "I'm taking a break from driving, I've been sitting too long and it's uncomfortable."
Fibromyalgia is a very weird, but very real disease. The problem is that many doctors will use it as a diagnosis for pain or symptoms they can't explain, instead of looking for a root etiology. And then people will use it as a reason to cease trying to get better.12/2/2014 12:13:00 PM |

I have a friend with Fibromyalgia, and I believe it has confined her to a wheelchair. She can stand and walk/limp, but says it is just really painful. As an added benefit, her sedentary lifestyle has caused her to put on weight, but it is mostly in the right places. This has given her a shapely booty, and some fat titties. The titties are usually in display, from a nice vantage point, since shes usually sitting. I feel comfortable enough with you all to admit I've thought about standing uncomfortably close to her before so that my junk is really close to her face....then just seeing what happens. 12/2/2014 12:29:22 PM |

If the diagnosis is "you have fibromyalgia" and they haven't run other diagnostics, an MRI, blood panels, psych treatment, CT scans, etc. Some people are told it's fibromyalgia when they have unresolved chronic pain without running through other scenarios. My Aunt, for instance, was diagnosed with fibromyalgia because she had chronic pain + depression. Turns out, she has rheumatoid arthritis instead.

I've seen this apply to plenty of men too, but what's with the people who constantly complain that something is giving them a headache? Stop using that as an excuse to complain about every little thing that annoys you. It's not a good look.
I recently heard a little girl, younger than 10 years old, tell her brother to stop annoying her because it was giving her a headache. She was clearly just mimicking something she has heard an adult say. Your kids will learn your bad habits.
That noise/smell/light/child/anythingelsethatoccupiesthesamespaceasme is giving me a headache...

God, I used to date one of these, and it fucking sucked. Always, always some health problem, constant infections (which meant constant antibiotics, which meant useless birth control), then mental issues on top of it. I think all of the health problems were real, but I never could figure out how a person could be so goddamn unhealthy. Then she went vegan and it got even worse and she gained a bunch of weight. So glad I got out of that.
On the other end of the spectrum, one of the girls I know in Peace Corps is always sick, but with legitimate and often terrifying things. Dislocated shoulder. Insect laid eggs in her eye and the larvae started to eat her retinas. Some kind of parasitic worm that started in her arm and worked its way almost to her heart and brain before they killed it. She was in the medical unit at the office all the time, but unlike most of the people described in this thread, you had to respect her for having such shitty luck but still staying on. 6/30/2015 11:26:19 AM |
