Also, Max Dillon reminded me way too much of the Edward Nygma from Batman Forever. He was a little too over the top in terms of socially awkward engineer."

eh I'm disappointed by the villains development but...we aren't suppose to give a damn about the villains really. These movies are about Peter and his past. The villains are just fan service it seems to me. I'm not mad at it

Max Dillon from the comic is exactly like he was in the movie. Socially awkward outcast. Nygma from Batman Forever isn't nothing like he is in the comic. You actually got it backwards. [/nerd]

I liked it. I believe Andrew Garfield is a good peter parker. A wise cracker. Better than toby. Too much sappy crap for my taste but I get it for the payoff. The actions scenes were good. Fast paced, clever, hammy, and some ol comic book bullshit. but It's no Captain America. I dont really give a damn about Peter's father and mother personally.

All these comic movies has this obsession of squeezing a 2nd villain at the last possible minute and it all seems rushed as hell.

People were crying .....I just dont understand this. This is another issue I'll bring up later

It kills me when people say there aren't any good movies. This is the standard they hold it to?

Spoilers...but not much more than the trailer already gives

I'm trying to think how they can lengthen the time for electro's spin into evil.

You can't make it out that he's trying to help people because you made him blue, and people will be scared of that. So he can't try to help and have spider-man steal his spotlight.

You could have him doing something to the city's electrical systems and watching on tv as spider-man fixes them and is regaled as a hero for the work you've done. but you can only do this once or twice to move a plot along. (I would have preferred this over the backstory of Peter's parents)

Most people consider the second spidey movie from the first series the best out of all of them, largely because it had a well developed villain. It's not important for them to make the villain sympathetic, but this movie would have been much better with more developed bad guys.

And actually the more I think about it, they did an ok job with electro, it was just goblin that was waaaay too rushed and shoehorned in

I liked that Electro wasn't really bad at first. He was just confused and didn't know how to control himself. Spider-Man was even able to calm him down and reason with him until the police started shooting at him. At that point I guess his jealousy of Spider-Man getting all this encouragement caused all his hate.

This was a good movie mixed with a lame movie! But you know what you get when you mix five gallons of ice cream with five gallons of manure? Ten gallons of manure.

yea I dont get this. but it could be just me. I have never been emotional attached to any movie or movie character. It's a movie. They're actors. After a scene those people go back to the refreshment table to eat fruit. I always look at it this way.
( I use to be a "behind the scene" junkie)

SPOILER ALERT EVEN THOUGH IT'S IN THIS VERY THREAD ALREADY:

So when Gwen dies when Spiderman catches her , the woman besides me and someone behind me were stiffing up a storm. Tears, my dawg, tears. It weirds me out. I use to have a friend that cried at the end of Free Willy. I remember people crying at the end of Dark knight Rises. People are emotionally attached to a character on a bright screen for two hours. I get it sort of. I think I would have cried too if Nolan had completely killed of the batman character. (sort of did)

"I really hate the nerdy engineer stereotype myself. Drives me nuts."

I can relate to it.

Thought the first half of the movie just sucked (although Paul Giamatti as clichéd Russian villain was fun). Watching Peter Parker and Harry Osborn hamming it up as chums was just horrible acting. The best thing to me was the setup of Jamie Foxx becoming a villain, capturing how perfectly well-meaning individuals are sometimes given a bad hand and then deal with the consequences.

It got better as it went later.

After I watched I'm on another site not connected to comic books at all, and one guy watched the movie and then recorded a 40-minute-long podcast not about his subject matter but about The Amazing Spiderman 2 and why he hated it and it was a horrible movie. I told him to upload it to Youtube.

Short version:

Quote :
"-Electro is retarded.
-Harry Osborn's motivations of Peter must know Spiderman because he takes pictures is jumping off a cliff in accusations in the extreme.
-Harry's father lived til at least his 50s. Didn't he have another 25 years or so to live? Why is he so "I'M DYING NOW"?
-And why didn't Spiderman, since he helps people, want to work with Harry to develop the spider serum into something that could cure Harry?
-Peter never has a camera or has any on-air connection with the Daily Bugle.
-He the podcaster does not care at all about Peter's parents.
-The train was stupid.
-Peter's father designed a great medical innovation that could help millions and decided to not allow it to any of humanity.
-Peter does not care at all that his uncle is dead and for this Peter Parker in these movies it ranks behind his parents, Captain Stacy, and Gwen Stacy in importance.
-The Green Goblin is completely shoehorned into the movie.
-And that one of the underlying facts of the comic was that the spider could've bit anyone and turned him into Spiderman, but because of Peter Parker as a person he did not become like his enemies who when transformed became evil. And this movie says that the only reason Peter Parker is Spiderman is because his father injected his blood into the spider serum, making Peter uniquely compatible."

My main problem as a more casual fan with this Spiderman film series is I don't understand why they're being made other than idiots like me will pay money to see them when they occur so shortly after the Spiderman films with Tobey Maguire as Spiderman, so unless you're making The Dark Knight, your effort is going to seem lackluster or just a retread compared to what we just saw. Whether you like this Spiderman more than Maguire or not, fine, but when you look at the films as a whole and looking at multiple aspects, those films were better than these.

I guess I'm on the opposite end of the spectrum. If there's not a strong villain the movie tends to suck.

A few thoughts:

I thought Jamie Foxx did a great job. Everything else was pretty awful.

I do like that this Spider-Man is witty and playful, Toby's portrayal was too sad and pitiful (and then the weird emo phase in SM3).

If it had just been Electro, and we had an entire movie to get to know Harry as a close buddy of Peter's, it would have set the next movie up much better.

Movie should have ended with Peter holding Gwen's body. Everything after was unnecessary, especially showing 5 months pass just for a 5 minute Rhino fight.

The Stan Lee cameos are starting to become too forced. Just let it happen, and stop letting him have speaking lines.

Green Goblin looked so stupid. And his lack of emotion when discovering who Spider-Man is? Ugh.

I assumed that the mysterious voice talking to Dr. Conners at the end of the first movie was Norman Osborne...I guess not? Kingpin maybe? Was hoping for some kind of carry over. He had said something about the truth about Peter's father...was the traitor setup what he was talking about? Because that's kinda lame.

Is Jonah Jameson ever going to be shown? JK Simmons did such a great job with the character I can't imagine anyone else doing it.

One more thing, the planes almost colliding was unnecessary, especially because the main characters had no idea it was even happening. I half expected Leslie Neilsen to peak in the cockpit door when it was over.

Does the green goblin really look as bad as the stills would suggest? He looks like a prepubescent Frankie Muniz after drinking three red bulls.

There's a video on this page trying to justify using 3 villains. And it's pretty much "we wanted to make it hard for him." At the end they blame the fact that it didn't work in Spider-Man 3 that fans are automatically saying it doesn't work this time either. Complete crap.

I'm not sure why people are complaining about three villains. Rhino at the end isn't even in the movie but the last 10 mins, and they didn't even fight really. It was mainly electro with a little goblin thrown in the mix. I barely consider it two villians.

I think that's the problem. Goblin and Rhino were forced in when the movie should have just been over.

I disagree. Rhino was maybe forced in, but the Green Goblin had a major impact in very little time. It sets him up as the primary villain of the third movie without having to waste time setting it up there.

If Green Goblin plays no major role in the third movie, then that would be what makes his inclusion in this one seem forced.

I thought it was kind of strange myself. At first it didn't quite fit in the movie, but they may have been going for that effect. The music reflects his inner voice but towards the end Spider-Man makes reference to hearing the music Electro's powers produce.

I guess Electro's powers create dubstep.

Watched this over the weekend. I enjoy Garfield as Peter Parker but this movie was about the most average thing i've seen in a long time. Green Goblin was almost a complete after thought and then he's easily knocked out by some falling debris.

One thing I thought was kind of dumb; After Spidey defeats Electro during the first enounter Electro somehow winds up at Oscorp, not in any sort of law enforcement custody. Yet after Green Goblin gets knocked out he winds up in custody and put away in a cell.

Also, I wonder if there is a problem with the franchise..I read the next film has been delayed until 2018
