I'm going to miss the previews for next episodes that give nothing away.

I enjoyed this episode a lot. Peggy and Joan's conversation in the elevator was excellent.

The diner woman reminded me a lot of someone too, but couldn't place which character it reminded me of. Maybe just someone in the background of Don's childhood whore house days.

And all of the 1970s hair and mustaches. Just loved it all.

^it never crossed my mind that the waitress a ghost or anything like that...i'm not buying into that theory at all. is that actually a theory that has gained traction? i haven't read many reviews about the season so far...so that's the first time i've seen anybody speculate that she's not real. that just seems to outlandish for me. but the writer is definitely hung up on the possibility.

so if that's going to be their argument, are they implying that each episode takes place in 60 minutes of real time?

and they're using the fact that a drunk, multi-millionaire, surrounded by models, barely acknowledged a diner waitress as proof that she doesn't exist?

I'm really, really, really bummed that this is about to end. feels like we're heading towards Don and Betty getting back together at some point (even for just a night)

What I liked about the article was how it likened Diana to a female version of Don. When Don was starting out he was invisible in plain sight.

Set next to the previous episode, I like how he's standing among the nothingness of this empty apartment...and then standing just outside the door. No wife. Essentially no kids. No girlfriend. No apartment. No belongings. With the speech he's supposed to be writing--"is there a scenario in which it's better?" Loved this episode.

I wouldn't be surprised if nothing too crazy happened in the finale. I don't really expect anybody to die or a huge dramatic twist in the last episode. While this show has had it's wild moments (dude hanging himself, lawnmower scene, etc) it's obvious nobody's going out in a blaze of glory. This isn't Breaking Bad or a show like that. Betty's gonna die - maybe not in the show, but obviously she doesn't have much longer with her diagnosis. But I don't necessarily see anything over the top happening in the finale. I fully expect it to be fairly open-ended.

Yeah I enjoyed the finale. Bummed it's over. Joan, Pete, Roger, Peggy all are happy. Hard to be upset about that. And Don's ending was fitting.

joan to roger (about roger marrying megan's mom): that's spectacular. what a mess!

joan after trying cocaine: i feel like i just got some very good news!

peggy to pete (after harry was disappointed they couldn't all get lunch): he acts like we always get lunch together. we've never once eaten lunch together.

pete to peggy (after telling her that people would brag about having worked with her): no one's ever said that to me.

roger had some classic roger lines as well.

really liked it. i think the ending with Don's smile and then right into the Coke ad was great. (Peggy mentioned coke in the phone call). was the smile an "I'm at peace" smile or i just got an idea for the greatest coke ad ever.

Great final episode. I got to say, I was pretty disappointed with about 10 minutes left in the episode, and it was evident that we would not see another pitch by Don. But they couldn't have redeemed the episode any better. Great ending.

I was surprised to see similar responses on twitter after the show. How did people not realize that Don came up with the ad while doing the hippy yoga thing. There is nothing to suggest that he is at peace (or ever will be).

which is fine, because that's what the show was, but I think most would think an optimistic ending would have been him finding inner peace at that camp and ditching the Don Draper persona all together

I guess I meant optimistic overall. It was a happy ending for everyone (other than Betty and the kids), including Don, who got to go back to create one of the most iconic ads of all time. And maybe he did find "inner peace", though knowing Don, I doubt it.
