If his main criticism was his work ethic, etc, our locker room will whip him into shape

He'll be a solid weapon for Cam

yea when he had the heisman rapist throwing to him

he didnt do jack shit the year before with another 1st round qb

im sure we'll be able to throw some jump balls to him in the red zone, especially if the nfc south drafts some of the 5'6 duke CBs, but im not sure how much we need that when we have cam and tolbert to just punch it in

Yeah main criticism is he is bad at running routes and has stone-hands. Still don't get taking him over Lee except for the height and Cam's tendency to throw high.

Here's to hoping I'm wrong and he's not just a little more talented version of Greg Carr, another really tall FSU WR.

you don't recall correctly, since you barely even posted about cam until after he was drafted

unless you consider this suggesting we draft him:

"anyone else ready to just say fuck it and draft newton?"

"i was 99% sure clausen was going to suck balls

im only like 60% sure newton will"

but you're just a bitter sports fan riding face's dick. i take your analysis with a grain of salt. you basically just paraphrase advanced metric websites as the gospel.

But back to real talk

I'd like to see our 2nd and 3rd round picks go to 2 of the following: WR/TE OT/OG CB/S

then spend 4,5,6,7 rounders on 2 more from that group, then maybe a scat back who can return punts, if one of the WR/CB we draft tomorrow can't return punts...then best available

Just wondering who is gonna return punts this year...maybe Barner will make big strides from last year

1 you guys still are misrepresenting the term overrated w/r/t kuechly. i think sammy watkins was overrated this draft. he's a really fucking good player. he's not julio jones or aj green good where you trade up to the top 5 to draft him, though

2 yes the fuck it lets take newton post was around the time luck decided to go back to school, everyone was in meltdown and the media thought we were going to take daquan bowers. and yea i hated clausen. pie all over my face on that one

3 if you want some stats thrown your way here you go: http://mockdraftable.com/player/4329/

that's basically the representation of why i dislike benjamin although i had this opinion way before the combine. when i watch him i dont see a guy who has much natural feel for playing wide receiver. in the national championship he made the game winning catch which is great, but he was total ass the entire rest of the game up until that point. he's nothing like other tall dudes who dominated in college ie alshon jeffrey, fitzgerald, etc. i even liked jon baldwin a lot coming out of pitt and he's fucking sucked in the nfl so if I don't like this guy ive seen a fair amount of something must be up

anyway he's on the team now so it doesnt matter. hopefully i'm as wrong about him as face was about ncsu this year. i will say this situation is a great for him with a qb who throws high, a GM who loves "big" players, a run focused offense and all the playing time in the world available at WR. apparently he's even a big fan of the team so we wont get any dwayne jarrett pussy shit. it's a good opportunity and he certainly has the physical talent to make it work

^^while mockdraftable.com is a handy site, just look at somebody like Clowney. Upside based on comparables is Robert Quinn. Downside is some guys this year with 6th round grades.

i mean, Megatron is similar to some guys named Mark Harrison and Donte Moncrief according to their measureables

aka, can't put much stock in it

Having spent 3 years watching him a ton at Clemson I couldn't disagree with this more. Sammy is a once every 5 years type of player in my eyes. I have no doubt that he will make multiple all-pro's before his career is up.

I just keep getting more excited thinking about Benjamin's ceiling. There's a ton of potential there that needs harnessing. I also like that he's going to be surrounded by veterans in the locker room who can show him the way of the NFL.

Dave Gettleman to this point in his short GM career has made some really solid moves. I've gotten to the point where I really trust him.

I would have preferred Lee over Benjamin, feel like they have similar upsides but Lee has a higher floor. But glad we addressed WR early and the other option was "reaching" for an OT.

Our next 2 picks need to address OT and CB, maybe we'll get lucky and Bitonio or Richardson will slide down to our pick in the 2nd.

I agree with this. I just think the cost for the Bills to move up 5 spots to get him was too much.

I don't blame Gettleman at all for taking Benjamin, even though he's not the surefire day one contributor you look for in the first round. I honestly stopped myself from thinking about Benjamin during most of the lead up to the draft. Especially after his catch in the title game, I figured the buzz around him would be too high for there to be a chance he falls to 28. However, it was clear way back in November that there wasn't a better a fit at receiver for us in this draft. Maybe Evans or Ebron, but there was a 0% chance those guys would be available. I definitely believe he was the #1 player on our board when the time came to pick. Lee also being there makes me feel even better about it, because the team had private workouts with both of them. No reason not to trust that they got the best pro of the two.

I didnt realize that Benjamin was a 23 year old redshirt sophomore. And he didnt graduate high school until he was 20.

Not a big fan of this pick
1. slow learner
2. only one year of production
3. weak hands
4. played on a stacked FSU team, so he had more opportunities to get open
3. 23 years old

That being said, Gettleman knows more about football than I do, and I've liked the moves he's made so far. I hope I'm wrong.

I am more concerned about route running than hands. His hands aren't bad by any means. He's 6'5 which, IMO, is the only reason he got drafted this high. I definitely agree with the slow learner comment.

they can't really help you being a huge motherfucker.

i dont put much stock into the comps. i dont even look at that site i just got linked to it once. was more about the height/weight/speed/agility breakdown where he has the height, size and ...

if i were to do comps for benjamin i wouldnt even stick to the nfl. he's the football version of taking a lanky, stiff center. most of the time they turn into hasheem thabeet or alexis ajinca but occasionally you get roy hibbert

The panthers had one major need.

It was WR.

There were 7 WR's rated higher than Benj. still available at the time of the pick.

They took Benj in the first round.

Way to jerry that pick pancats.

I am now giving that gymnist face. The one that wasn't happy on the podium in the olympics.

He highpoints the ball at like ~12ft off the ground in that first gif if you consider he's 6'5" and has 35" arms

So do we draft a hog mollie tackle with heavy hands at the 60th pick, or another blue goose wideout with a big catching radius

Go best offensive lineman then go slot in the 3rd round.

DeAnthony Thomas in the 3rd for that spot would be amazing.

just draft the highest rated player on your board.

it's not complicated. if it's not a tackle in the 2nd, big fucking deal.
