I'm glad wikipedia still works. It's a solid website, and I'd hate for anything to ever happen to it. I hear google is pretty good at searches also.

the league is as popular/profitable as it's ever been, brah

doesn't matter how it became public, once it's out, it's out

and that $2.5 million means absolutely nothing to a billionaire who is about to make another billion from selling the team

rich, racist people problems and such

I can't wait to see the signs at the next game. Will probably be plenty playing on the fact that hey didn't want his GF to bring black people to the games and now he can't even go to the games. Would be awesome if the GF showed up with a whole entourage of black friends.

^ you are such a goddamn idiot, take some math or logic classes. many people are horrible for one reason or another. i cited a specific action by him, which i obviously am not guilty of. looking at pics is not the same as having an affair, goddamit did i really have to spell it out? also, being obsessed with fitness models makes one a horrible person, um, ok.

^^ i don't know... but what does it matter? y'all look at porn, and our friend synapse is fond of looking at pics of naked 18 year olds, and has a stash of them, but i am horrible for looking at pics of semi-clothed mature women, who actually post the pics in public on their own, as opposed to synapse's pics which seem like they have been posted on the internet by pedos who stole them and by jilted bfs.

I never follow NBA rules, so I would appreciate if someone could explain to me how the NBA can levy a fine against an individual? I get they can permaban him, but what power do they have to enforce the fine if he chooses not to pay it?

i, too, am curious about this. unless there's something written in the league constitution, if he's forced to sell the team and wash his hands of the league, how could they possibly require him to pay a fine to a league he's not even part of?

If the Warriors win tonight, it's because the Clippers players have too much adversity to overcome.

I also wondered how the Association can make him pay a fine, AND sell the team. Seems like he should be able to say "I'm not paying a fine, so kick me out of the Association if you have to". Or say, "well, you kicked me out of the Association, so our contract is void. You can't force me to pay shit out of contract".

But I refused to think about it too much though, because .... lol. And just said to myself, well, you don't know what type of legal contract he signed in order to be a team owner in the NBA. He'll, his signed contract might say that he can't do or say anything to cast the Association in a negative light, else the Association reserves the right to blah blah blah....

I'm happy with the verdict. What an asshole. That's like your company CEO calling everyone that works at the company fucking stupid, and (verified) word gets back to the Board. You goddamn right he should have been fired and whatever else that can comes with that.

The litigation that is going to spawn from this will take years to resolve. Yes he is a bigot, but don't think for 5 seconds that he doesn't have a reasonable legal argument in court over what's happened.

Most of that language isn't strictly defined and is open to interpretation. I can see grounds for $2M of fines from the constitution, and as little as $0. Lawyers and the courts are going to be busy with this shit for years.

TWW lawyers please weigh in, because I'm under this impression too. I think his lawyer is going to rip the NBA to shreds in court. If you read the transcript, he doesn't actually say he doesn't want black people to go to his games.

Also, guys like Jason Kidd who is convicted of beating his wife, or Kobe who had a bunch of tweets about gays weren't banned.

I really just think the NBA wanted to win the court of public opinion, knowing full well they are about to get their doors blown off in real court.

^^ I think that Sterling gave a pretty sizable to the NAACP in the name of charity. It's widely believed (now) that this was a monetary blanket to shield himself from racism allegations.

That does, however, raise the very good question of the screening process the NAACP goes through when determine who will be a recipient of this award. Also, if here is any implicit framework present that "says" those who donate a large amount of cash will receive a reward/award.

If course, the NAACP has rescinded their plans to give him an award, and gave his donation back to him.

Before anyone's mind gets blown about those crazy things a black guys said about the NAACP, it is my belief that that organization serves an important purpose today, just as they did in the past, by the way of sometimes extreme views to counteract the extreme views coming from the "other side"... The idea that if your opponent is extreme, but your position is in the middle, any negotiation or compromise will place you off center. In that way, it's necessary for them to be extreme at times. In the same breath, I also think the NAACP is an old organization using an outdated method of getting results.

You think the League just sells teams to people without some sort of protections against an owner? It's undoubtedly enforceable via whatever purchase agreement or other agreements he was subject to in order to be a part of the Board and Association itself...whatever those may be.

Donald Sterling is a racist piece of shit. The NBA was looking for an opportunity to get rid of him and TMZ handed them one. The fact that he bought an award from the NAACP doesn't make him less racist.
