So I'm still undecided on my (1) keeper.
(10 team stand scoring 2rb 3wr 1flex)

Here are my choices with the pick I lose if I keep them:

Jamaal Charles (1st)
Gio Bernard (6th)
Andrew Luck (8th)
Alshon Jeffrey (13th)

I think Jeffrey is the answer but I'm considering JC and Gio. We haven't made our draft order yet, and I'm thinking it might be smart to keep JC if I'm picking at the end of the round.

^Yeah that'd be my reasoning. If I don't have a top, say, 4 or 5 pick then I'm keeping Charles.

anyone know of a good app to use during a live draft?

I usually just have pencil and paper, would be nice to have an app that uses my league settings or at least shows players available to keep track of who has been drafted

You could print some list of "top 500 players" or something and just cross them off

not sure if that's what you'd normally do but it's easier than writing down names

so I've got the first pick in a very QB friendly draft (10 teams). Should I go with a QB at #1 or Lesean McCoy?

FYI, Peyton is projected to score 550 points this season (top QB), while the top RB Jamaal Charles is projected to get 240

That sounds like a retarded league.

What is the 6th best qb projected to score? If its less than 100 fewer than manning, go with the best player (mccoy imo)

nah man, he did it 3 years ago and then had the gall to have a few beers while on vacation recently.

I guess that he was on some sort of league probation where he gets tested for alcohol constantly. Kinda shitty that he is not allowed to have a drop of alcohol on his vacation, but whatever.

So, my league gets 3 keepers, no penalties just pick any three from your roster last year, then pick in reverse order non snake, it works i guess. I won so I'm picking last and obviously not again til 24.

Anyway, I've got Jamaal Charles and Alshon Jeffery, who I think are pretty much no brainers, and maybe my third is a no brainer too but just to double check I should keep Peyton right? If i don't keep him I'd keep Toby Gerhart, I'd love to lock up my RBs but Peyton pretty much single-handedly won me the league last year. Based on projections my first pick would be either a pretty good WR (Fitzgerald, Wes Welker area) or a not real great RB (like a Rashad Jennings maybe).

Also Peyton might only play another year or two, so hes got a tiny bit less value as a keeper next year, but I'm just guessing on that.

Well had my money league draft today. 10 team league with pretty standard scoring. Only difference is that qb gets 4.5 pts per touchdown. Here's what I got in our snake draft picking 3rd only going to list starters.

Russell wilson (rivers as backup to play matchup)
Lesean McCoy
dez Bryant
montee ball
Antonio brown
vincent jackson
Jason witten

I have no problems with Stacy as a spot #2 rb/flex, but his value is definitely hurt if Shaun Hill doesn't surprise everyone and be decent.

I'm not too high on Decker with the severe downgrade in who is throwing him the ball and that teams will shift coverage his way unlike last year. Gordon could pay dividends late in the season, but could also be a wasted pick. Would've probably grabbed a tight end instead of Decker, but I dunno who was available. Otherwise not bad for a 12 team league.

Be brutally honest. I am concerned about a few positions

Adrian Peterson (Min - RB)
Brandon Marshall (Chi - WR)
Zac Stacy (StL - RB)
Andre Johnson (Hou - WR)
Larry Fitzgerald (Ari - WR)
Robert Griffin III (Was - QB)
Greg Olsen (Car - TE)
Eric Decker (NYJ - WR)
Cincinnati (Cin - DEF)
Lamar Miller (Mia - RB)
Sammy Watkins (Buf - WR)
DeAndre Hopkins (Hou - WR)
Martellus Bennett (Chi - TE)
Andre Williams (NYG - RB)
Dwayne Bowe (KC - WR)
Nick Novak (SD - K)

I'll be brutally honest pick by pick:

- AP is still the best running back regardless of fantasy so that's fine
- Big baller
- Overhyped trash. Should've gone WR2 this pick.
- Probably won't play 16 games but still very good
- I prefer Floyd over Fitz but still a great talent
- Big upside, also will miss games due to age injury
- Solid top-10 TE option
- Who is gonna get him the ball
- What the fuck are you doing drafting a defense that early
- Good value
- Good upside
- Good semi-handcuff for Andre and emerged last year
- Good value, though I'm not a fan of drafting multiple TEs
- Um. I guess if Jennings is hurt playing Dallas' porous D he could be ok that week
- Great value
- everyone needs a kicker

Had my first draft last night. 10 team, 0.5 PPR. I was picking 10th.

Demaryius Thomas
Dez Bryant
Reggie Bush
Vincent Jackson
Frank Gore
Ryan Mathews
Golden Tate
Joique Bell
Russell Wilson
Dwayne Bowe
Tony Romo
Stevan Ridley
Charles Clay
Bills D/ST
Greg Zuerlein

My WRs are good...definitely not overly excited about my RBs, but they should be serviceable. Any thoughts?

Just finished my draft... Pick 12 in a Snake draft 1 point ppr. 2RB, 2WR, 1 Flex

First round went like this
J. Charles
L. McCoy
M. Forte
C Johnson,
D. Thomas
E. Lacy
A. Peterson (WTF THIS LATE?)
D. Bryant
M. Lynch
P. Manning
A. Morris
M. Ball (Seemed like a lot of upside in PPR, best chance of a top RB)

2 Round on just who i got

J. Graham (Best player available didn't matter if i picked him or ball first)
L. Bell (Some risk but could be great)
P. Garcon
T. Gerhart (worth the risk if one of the other guys busts)
J. Edelman (Hope a new welker, esp if gronk can't stay healthy)
C. Johson (I have some hopes for him on the Jets, starting RB)
k. Wright (needed WR Bad)
C. Kaepernick (almost all good KB were gone)
R. Randle (If the giants can get their shit together)
D. Hopkins (Solid Handcuff/looks talented)
S. Hauschka
L. Green (This guy is supposed to be a sleeper, if he is great i can use him as my TE and put Graham in flex)
A. Cardnals (why not)
M. Jones (why not)
E. Manning (Why not?)

Feel free to offer thoughts and comments

Brandon Marshall is a steal at 24. Same with Ellington at 49.

Your WR corp other than Marshall is kind of shitty IMO. Patterson could be good, but who knows. Sanders will probably have 2-3 really good games and then games where he does absolutely nothing. Decker is playing for the Jets, so that sucks. Who knows when Gordon will actually get to play this year.

Other than that, Really deep RB corp for a 12 team league. Also, two solid QB options. And a sleeper TE. Pretty good, I'd say.

I probably would have drafted a WR instead of Chris Johnson. Or a QB.

Also, kind of iffy picking the Cardinals defense, they lost 3 really, really good starters this year in Dansby, Washington and Dockett

Had my 2nd $ league draft last night, it is ran by my wife and I. She has won the league 3 times in 5 years (she is obsessed with fantasy football, which means she wants to watch every NFL game on tv, so I am not complaining), and I have made the playoffs exactly once (my pride is worth more than the $ at this point). League is made up of friends and co-workers, and QBs are usually over-valued.

Settings: 12 team (3 divisions), 1 pt PPR (first year as PPR league), 6 pts per pass TD.
Rosters (starters): 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 W/R/T flex, 1 K, 1 D/ST

I picked 12th, and draft played out like I thought it would, fairly happy with my team. Definitely think it is a playoff team.

Well, your WR, TE and DEF slots are good. Your RB corps and QB situation is pretty bad though. I probably would've gone RB with your 3rd/4th round pick

^^ you need to figure out a trade for a RB... your going to have trouble even with your awesome receivers.

Woodhead might produce again in PPR like he did last year but that is a total unknown... I think Jackson and Ray rice are both going to be weak sauce, and Ray Rice cant even play the first 2 games.

I tend to take too many WRs every year, and this year is no different:

Brandon Marshall
Larry Fitzgerald
Cordarrelle Patterson
T.Y. Hilton
Kelvin Benjamin
Mike Evans

^^the other issue you got is that you've got injury and performance risk with a lot of your picks. There isn't really anybody who i could see being super reliable (Even if not a top performer) except for your top 3 and Romo.

^Picking up Pierce to back up Rice certainly helps though. And I can't see Richardson doing any worse than he did last year now that he's had the whole offseason/preseason with the Colts. However, the Jackson/Woodhead picks are a big meh to me. At least you'll have #1 waiver wire priority to get an undrafted RB!

I have #11 & #9 in two 12-team leagues, and it's very tempting to go WR-WR this year. Based on what I've seen in the recent posts, it seems like the most logical thing to do (depending on how the actual draft goes, of course). But every year I tend to find better value in later rounds with WRs than I do with RBs.

^I had 10/11 in a 10 team draft and went WR/WR. Would've gone Graham/WR if he was available. The other RBs in that part of the draft all come with big question marks IMO. I'd rather get two stud WRs like I did and suffer a little RB than take a risk on RB who is injury prone or whatever. But yeah, it all depends on if somebody falls to you. In my draft the first round went pretty much chalk.

It all depends on your league I guess. The top 4, IMO, are pretty much obvious picks even if the order is subjective...Charles, McCoy, AP, Forte. After that in all the mocks I've done (and the one draft I've participated in so far) you'll have any combination of Calvin Johnson, Jimmy Graham, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Marshawn Lynch, Demariyus Thomas, Dez Bryant, Montee Ball, Demarco Murray, and Aaron Rodgers filling out the rest of the 1st round.

^he will be in the NFL alcohol program, i don't think there will be punishment.

Remember you have to look at the relative benefit of the pick, as well as how deep the position is.

There is usually a big fall off between the elite guys and the regulars then the fall guys.

RB isnt a deep position, teams generally only play one guy, if they do a committee approach then neither is going to be worth much (one guy gets yards the other gets TDs). So there is a lot of risk if you don't get a solid starting RB who is going to at least see 1000 yards and 5/6 TDs, because the guys you can fill in with will get 5 points instead of at least 15-20.

With WR, especially in PPR, the top guys get 20-30 points, but since most teams play 2 to 3 WR now a days you can get a 2nd back which will put up a solid 15 most weeks. In addition you can pick them later since there are more of them, there are still Solid WRs available in rounds 4,5,6 in many of the drafts i've seen. Where you don't often see solid RBs at that point.

Where would everyone take Josh Gordon in a league where you can keep a player with a 1 round penalty until they become a 2nd round pick. (i.e. if you drafted Gordon in the 7th, you could keep him for the next 5 years).

thoughts?

I expect Gordon plays in at least 5-6 games. "Rumors" right now are that the NFL wants to "settle" for half a season but the Gordon camp feels confident they'll win and refuse to settle. Worst case scenario is that he gets suspended for the full season and they take it to court(like the Williams boys did in Minnesota) and he'll play the entire time the case is going on.

I'd be more worried that he looks like he doesn't care in the preseason and Hoyer/Manziel have both looked horrible.

Jesus.

I guess all leagues are different, but in the main league I'm in, all the owners are pretty good about communicating. So if we're trying to make a trade we can text each other trying to work something out instead of just blindly sending out offers.

In other words, offers like ^ never really even get sent
