Yes, there are those signs. And that's good advice. But when someone breaks in and takes that shit, the cops don't show up and say, "DEAL WITH IT, IDIOT." They write a report and try to find the stuff (I know they don't really try to find it).

i wouldn't feel sympathy for someone who had their window smashed and a diamond ring stolen off the seat. it was pretty stupid to leave it there.

however, i would still hope that the thief was caught and prosecuted.

Why can feminists only look at the issue as black and white? Saying that women should take precautionary actions does not mean the person who committed the act isn't guilty and a bad person. It is called living in reality where shitty people do shitty things and so you should take reasonable precautions. Being an attractive female celebrity makes you a huge target for things like this and so all you have to do in order to prevent it is not take nude pictures. If you do take them them you are taking a risk that they will be leaked, simple as that. It doesn't make the hacker any less shitty but it is a situation that can easily be prevented in the first place if you are worried about this sort of thing being a possibility.

Eh, not really. It's just stating the obvious. Yes, we should all feel like we can share nude photos "securely" online. But the reality is, nothing is secure online, so you probably shouldn't do it. And that goes double for celebrities, who are almost certainly being actively attacked at all times.

Most of the pics released were of people much younger than probably most people here, and the fact of the matter is that most high school aged kids probably take naked pics of themselves. Telling kids not to take naked pics of themselves is like our parents telling us not to look at porn online or go to chat rooms, which was like our grandparents telling out parents not to go to rock concerts and do acid (or roller derby or whatever it is people did).

Kids shouldn't be taking naked pics, true, but we'd be better served teaching people about phishing stacks, how to choose good passwords, and enabling 2 factor authentication... In the case of kids, maybe add 3 faftor authentication.

You should be under obligation to hide or lock anything. When something gets stolen, the fault lies with the thief. This is why we have separate crimes for larceny and B&E; they're two separate wrongs.

Sure, it's dumb to leave yourself open to victimization, but it isn't wrong, and you're still deserving of sympathy.

Long term I don't think much will come of this. I mean, most of them are just innocent boob shots which let's face it, only Americans get that uptight about boob shots. Maybe somebody like Upton or Jennifer Lawrence was holding out for a major magazine deal or photo op, but in the longrun there was nothing really bad about it that might damage or ruin a career. Hudson's actually looked very nice from an artistic perspective.

Everything that I just said I think is valid, except for those videos that were leaked of Jessica Brown Findlay. That girl had films of BJs and her getting dick slapped, plus saying a lot of comical-ish stuff that is reminiscent of what you would hear watching porn. I would be worried if I was her.

And where is the hate for iCloud insecurity (cloud services in general), mirroring people's photos to the cloud without their knowledge or explicit consent (google enables this by default and harasses you every time you connect to WiFi if it is disabled, I don't know how it works in iOS), and retaining pictures in the cloud after they are deleted from your device. Each day I trust cloud services less and less.
