Why is there not a referee whistle when a player goes down like that? In soccer at least they kick it out of bounds. Pretty shitty to keep playing when there is a man down at the other end.

Yeah, absolute worst case you give up a 4 point play. But more often than not you either give up 2 points or get a stop and can call timeout. Besides, on the fly how do you know if a guy is hurt, or if somebody slips and bangs their knee or something and just needs a few seconds to regain themself

You don't want to accidentally stop the clock because a guy is lazy or has to tie his shoe

I've seen it for catastrophic injuries. Like the kind that make you sick to watch and are impossible to fake.

But if a guy is still down on the other end of the court after the opponents have scored/his team gets the ball back, the ref will stop play.
