So who owns the rights to Deadpool? Fox? I guess we won't see a Deadpool MCU crossover any time soon. Not that we could anyway, MCU wouldn't be able to let him be himself.

Unless they ever did an R-rated movie.

Deadpool is owned by Fox because although he isn't technically a natural mutant, he is most closely related to X characters. Specifically Wolverine and Cable. I expect there will be an R rated X-Force movie at some point, with Deadpool, Cable, Domino, Warpath, maybe X-23, Possibly Shatterstar even though he's the lamest mutant ever.

It is kind of a shame that he won't be mistaken for Spider-Man all the time.

Also, While I'm glad Deadpool was able to get an R rating since it's refreshing for a superhero movie, I never understood people who said Deadpool wouldn't work with a PG-13 movie. I mean in deadpool comics they don't actually use the F word. There isn't any nudity. There is a lot of violence but you can get away with a lot of violence in PG-13 movies as long as there isn't a lot of blood or gore.

Deadpool is more about the tone and attitude than content, and he would absolutely work in a PG-13 X-Men movie, in fact I think it would be hilarious if the movie bleeped him but nobody seemed to notice the bleeping except Deadpool, who would comment about the bleeping.

I enjoyed it what I didn't like was the love story. It drew me out of it. Deadpool is a mercenary. You can come up with a 100 stories about mercenary. I've seen it done. The story was essentially a damsel in distress movie and we should be all tired of seeing those by now. Other than that I liked it and all the references.

For example the (spoiler) I was trying to figure out at the end what kinda of aircraft carrier ship they were fighting on. It looked weird to me. Come to find out they were fighting on fallen S.H.E.I.L.D helicarrier. But they couldn't call it that for obvious reasons

Also there's a special Deadpool character that shows up but they can't use the actually group he is originally with.. well because of obvious reasons lol.

It turned into a damsel in distress at the very end, but before that, the majority was a revenge flick.

While I'd agree that the love story was kind of contrived I feel that they needed to have an arc like this to make the movie more accessible for the non Deadpool savvy/fanbase. They probably felt it was needed to ground the character, plus they were working with a hugely restricted budget and have that backstory probably helped reduce that (compared to more fight scenes).

This Deadpool movie needed to be rated R, if only because the comedic superhero movie has already been pretty perfected by Marvel's movies. Plus, it seemed much more natural with Reynolds at the helm to have it rated that way. I couldn't imagine the movie with him as Deadpool rated PG13.

I saw it a second time with my wife, who is not into this genre of movie at all.

she loved it. It probably helped that I told her to watch it as a comedy rather than a serious movie. She was laughing her ass off the whole time which is impressive considering that she's way more mature than I am as an adult human, and didn't get any jokes/gags referencing other marvel properties or comics.

Saw it, really enjoyed it. Agree that it doesn't take someone to really like superhero movies to enjoy the film. Plenty of comedy and pop-culture references to make the casual fan laugh throughout.

Ryan Reynolds deserves a ton of credit, perfect person to bring this role to life.

Watched it again last night, and I think I noticed something maybe obvious for everyone else.

Did the majority of the last fight scenes take place on a derelict helecarrier?

Well, at least we see that Disney doesn't own the rights to everything.

Disney does own the rights to the Helicarrier. They wouldn't be able to call it a Helicarrier in Deadpool.
