I'm telling you that there's is no judge and prosecutor combination in Georgia or any other southern state that would stick a white person in jail for doing their job 2 hours early. 3/10/2015 8:05:26 AM |

But would they for repeated violations of a noise ordinance?
What about the man jailed last year for the same thing, with the same judge? Was he white or black? Did he work for the same company? 3/10/2015 9:43:01 AM |

If this was right how come the city relented and let him off with time served after 2 weekends. Once the story went viral?

It doesn't matter what company he works for, he's doing his damn job. Too bad if it wakes you up at 5am, doing your job is not a jail able offense. I'm not going to debate this, if you think a person should go to jail for waking some rich fucks at 5am while picking up their garbage (that they are too damn lazy to take to the dump themselves) continue.
Where I grew up we had a trash dump, everyone took their own trash. That would blow these rich folks minds. 3/10/2015 9:47:43 AM |

I guarantee you his job did not require him to be out at 5am in violation of a noise ordinance. We fire people where I work if they come in too early repeatedly. They don't go to jail for it, because they aren't breaking a law, but they get fired. 3/10/2015 9:59:24 AM |

1st offense, automatic jail, for waking some rich folks.3/10/2015 10:03:14 AM |

They stopped it once they saw it on CNN. It seems like these "municipal courts" cause more problems than they cause. Thank god NC courts are not run by cities, which keeps cities from using fines and jail to line their pockets. 3/10/2015 8:36:27 PM |

how many laws do you figure the average American breaks on a daily basis? do they deserve to go to jail for breaking them?
hell, some of the laws that are broken are FAR more dangerous/life impacting than picking up trash too early3/10/2015 9:13:46 PM |

They pick up trash whenever they want in my neighborhood. People put it out the night before. 3/10/2015 10:01:15 PM |

I would do that, but then I think how there is more time left and I can put it off. 3/10/2015 10:01:58 PM |

Bill Riley (the solicitor AKA "tough prosecutor") is name partner at Riley McLendon LLC, a law firm he shares with his partner, Cecil Guy McLendon, Jr.
Apparently Mr. Tough Prosecutor has no problem with his partner not paying his taxes (tax lien filed against McLendon not released until 3 years later) but wants to lock garbage men in jail for showing up too early.
If you look hard enough, you find the zealots often have the most to hide. 3/10/2015 10:08:01 PM |

If I was him I would drive very slowly, like 3mph, and leave whatever garbage could not be picked up for next week.
I would also obstruct traffic.
I would blow the truck horn at any cars going by for "safety"] 3/12/2015 10:31:29 PM |

^My bus driver back in the day.
Some idiot parent was dumb enough to report her for speeding after kids revealed she was sassy with them...like all bus drivers should be.
It took forever to get home that year after she got pulled for speeding in the neighborhood. 3/12/2015 10:55:57 PM |
